Room 217, Monday

Savannah was in her and Johnny's room, laying on the bed in pajamas and holding onto the bear Johnny had gotten her for Valentine's Day. She wasn't up for going to class -- or even leaving her room -- right now. She had phoned Ms. Atreides to let her know why she wasn't going to be there and was now going over her favorite fairy tales in her mind so she could complete the suggestions her teacher had given her.

Nine months in Cairo and only three days had passed here! The whole time thing made her head spin and give her a headache.

She supposed that some time soon she should go through the satchel she had brought back through time, but right now, she was in no hurry to move from the bed -- or the relief that she was back where she belonged.

Being lost in time because of evil angel statues.

One more thing she could never tell Paige, or the Pack or the Cortezes or the Vasics...

After his classes (which was much more a case of the hangover subsiding to a tolerable level than it was out of any desire to actually be studious), Anders came back up to the dorms and went knocking on Savannah's door.

Okay, the knocking still hurt. Ow.

Which was pretty much all the excuse Anders needed to come barging through the door and go for the tackleglomphug.

He was doing a lot of that lately.

Savannah hugged him tightly. "They had no cupcakes, Anders!"

Because it was what she had come up with so he wouldn't worry about her.

"That's a frakking crime," he said with a laugh that was a little ragged. "I'll make you all the cupcakes you damn well want tonight, how's that?"

Please. Like he would have not worried.

"That sounds like a very good plan," she agreed. She pulled back to look at him. "I was okay," she said quietly. "Wyatt kept me safe."

Because she knew he would have worried any way.

"Then I owe him cupcakes too," Anders said. "I am so frakking glad they got you back, little sis. And I'm glad you were okay. I just . . . it was you, and Wyatt, and Bridge, and Xander, I found that out afterward, and Lana, and I really kind of hate statues now."

Savannah hugged him tightly again. "But we're safe and we're back... and the angels are gone and..." she looked at him. "They are gone, right? They can't hurt anyone else?"

As soon as Eve got out of her wonderfully nap-filled class, she made a beeline straight for Savannah's room.

She knocked impatiently at the door.

Savannah recognized that knock.

"It's open, Mom," she called out.

Eve let herself in and shut the door quietly behind her. "I missed you," she said, trying valiantly to keep her voice from cracking.

Savannah got to her knees up on the bed and opened her arms to her mom.

Eve went right to her daughter and hugged her tightly. "Do I have to let you go?" she asked. "Ever?"

Savannah shook her head. "No, not ever," she whispered, holding onto her mother. "I never thought I'd see you again."

"I was terrified I'd never see you again," Eve said, burying her face against her daughter's hair. "All I could think about was how incredibly unfair that was."

"I think I may have taught the listening Fates and several young Egyptians many new words over the course of the last nine months."

Johnny was gone only long enough to take a shower. If there were visitors in the room, they would only notice that he was dressed, yes, and that he stayed out their way so they could visit Savannah. But his eyes didn't stray far from her. Never that.

It didn't matter where in the room Johnny was, Savannah kept looking for him. Part of her was still kind of amazed that they had made it back and he was here with her.

Give her a break. Nine months away was a stressful time for her.

Chris had gotten a handwavy message from Savannah asking him to stop by, so here he was, knocking on her door to check on her.

Savannah looked up from the book she was pretending to read. "It's open."

Chris walked in and immediately pulled Savannah into a hug. "It's good to see you."

Savannah hugged him back tightly. "It's good to be back where I belong," she said.

"Are you okay?" Chris asked, stepping back and giving her a concerned once-over.

"Physically or mentally?" She asked with a smile. "I'm... acclimating. It's weird to find out that so little time has passed here... and I'm so sorry for worrying everyone. I thought we would be safe, Chris."
