Room 217, Monday

Savannah was in her and Johnny's room, laying on the bed in pajamas and holding onto the bear Johnny had gotten her for Valentine's Day. She wasn't up for going to class -- or even leaving her room -- right now. She had phoned Ms. Atreides to let her know why she wasn't going to be there and was now going over her favorite fairy tales in her mind so she could complete the suggestions her teacher had given her.

Nine months in Cairo and only three days had passed here! The whole time thing made her head spin and give her a headache.

She supposed that some time soon she should go through the satchel she had brought back through time, but right now, she was in no hurry to move from the bed -- or the relief that she was back where she belonged.

Being lost in time because of evil angel statues.

One more thing she could never tell Paige, or the Pack or the Cortezes or the Vasics...

"You were?"

"Yeah. He came into Caritas, and we were both worried about you," Anders said.

That made her feel even more guilty.

"I hated being away from everyone... and I'm really all Sean has. His other relatives are assholes, Anders."

Not to mention they wanted her dead. She didn't think Anders needed to know that.

No, he really didn't. "He's a good guy," Anders said gently, putting an arm around her shoulders as if he understood she felt bad about making them worry. "He deserves an awesome little sister like you."

"I would never have chosen to disappear."

"Hey," Anders said, looking at her seriously. "I know you wouldn't. Don't even think for a second I blame you for any of this."

"It has just... it's made me think."

"'bout what?" asked Anders, whose (dwinding, thankfully) tendency to overthink things had already let him come up with a dozen possibilities.

Anders reached over and hugged her again. "Yeah."

Savannah hugged him tightly. "Nine months, Anders," she said softly.

"Nine months," Anders echoed. "Did you at least make the most of it and have some fun while you were there?"

"I became a closet opium addict," she deadpanned.

"Savannah Levine," he scolded teasingly, "do I have to give you the lecture no big brother likes having to give? Or is possibly very good at?"

"And I became a tomb robber," she continued.

Anders perked up at that. "Well, see, at least that's profitable."

"Oh it really was," she said seriously. "Of course, we did run into a little bit of trouble when a mummy took a liking to Wyatt... but I flashed him and we were okay."

Anders nearly fell backwards off the bed. "Savannah!"

Savannah looked at him. "Well, what would you have done to save us?" She smiled. "As long as Johnny doesn't figure out how to time travel no one will die." She tilted her head. "Wanna hear about the demon nest?"

"Demon --" Anders groaned. "Aw hell, they're everywhere."

Savannah nodded. "Yeah, they are. We would have left them alone if they hadn't decided that I was a goddess and that by eating me they'd be blessed."

Okay, so maybe she shouldn't have done the fireworks spell...

"Oh, little sis," Anders chuckled affectionately. "You would get yourself into something like that. I almost wish I could've been there for that."

Savannah smiled. "I wore a harem costume."

"And this is where we draw the line," Anders said quickly. "I can't be seeing my little sis in something like that."

"Wyatt put a stop to it," she said helpfully. "He felt the same way."
