Room 217, Monday

Savannah was in her and Johnny's room, laying on the bed in pajamas and holding onto the bear Johnny had gotten her for Valentine's Day. She wasn't up for going to class -- or even leaving her room -- right now. She had phoned Ms. Atreides to let her know why she wasn't going to be there and was now going over her favorite fairy tales in her mind so she could complete the suggestions her teacher had given her.

Nine months in Cairo and only three days had passed here! The whole time thing made her head spin and give her a headache.

She supposed that some time soon she should go through the satchel she had brought back through time, but right now, she was in no hurry to move from the bed -- or the relief that she was back where she belonged.

Being lost in time because of evil angel statues.

One more thing she could never tell Paige, or the Pack or the Cortezes or the Vasics...

Savannah gave her a sad look. "I hated them so much, mom."

"I would've, too, if I were in your situation," Eve said. "I would've hated everybody."

"I hated myself," she said quietly. "I hated myself for being so stupid and for getting Wyatt screwed, too."

"Oh, honey..." Eve shook her head. "You shouldn't have hated yourself. It wasn't your fault."

"If I hadn't asked Wyatt to take me to the preserve..."

"Then you'd have been in 1923 Cairo alone."

"That would have been..." Savannah shook her head. "...scary."

She would have been scared and would have lost her mind.

"So while yeah, it sucks that Wyatt got dragged along for the ride, it's also very much a good thing that he did."

"Do you think he'll ever speak to me again?"

Because she was silly and worried about stuff like this.

"Of course he will," Eve assured her. "And if for some crazy reason he doesn't? Isabel and I will kick his ass."

"Isabel could very well be angry at me for inadvertently kidnapping her boyfriend into the past with me," she pointed out.

"If she is, then I'll kick Wyatt's ass by myself if I need to," Eve said stubbornly.

"I wouldn't blame him, mom," Savannah pointed out. "Nine months away from everyone he loved..."

"Okay, I won't kick his ass, then," Eve said, conceding the point. "But I'll have a good long talk with him."

"Well, at first, I almost got a job as a dancing girl, but Wyatt put a stop to that real quick."

Savannah managed a smile. "See, that's what I thought, but he apparently had this problem with his little sister dressing in a harem outfit!"

"What's wrong with a harem outfit?" Eve asked, pouting.

"I think he was protecting my virtue and didn't want to get arrested for hurting some guy for ogling me in a state of near undress?"

"Ah. Now that makes sense." Eve grinned. "So since the dancing girl idea was out, what did you get up to?"
