Savannah was frowning into the phone as she paced the living room of the penthouse she and Johnny shared.

"Adam, are you sure? Well why didn't Paige call me and tell me herself?" She sighed, rubbing the center of her forehead. "Doesn't Benicio realize yet that doing something like that is just guaranteed to make both Lucas and Paige balk at him?"

She paced some more, listening to the other end of the conversation. "No, you're right. But I need to know about these things -- if only to keep the family from getting into another one of those fights where they decide not to talk to each other for months." Savannah narrowed her eyes. "Keep that up and you're not invited to my wedding and I'll get Wyatt to walk me down the aisle. No, we haven't set a date yet."

She went to the fridge to get some orange juice. "Well, if Benecio doesn't stop upsetting Paige, he can sit in a corner at the wedding." She sighed. "What? No, I'll come. If someone had told me about the murders in the first place, I might have been able to do something before the Nasts had to get involved -- and I don't care why they're involved. Thomas and Josef Nast plus Benicio and the other Cortezes can only mean trouble. No, we are not telling Sean and Annja about this. They just celebrated their one year anniversary. I can at least buy my big brother some time before he has to deal with his relatives again." She shut the fridge with more force than she had planned.

"Yes, I'm pissed at you. You're supposed to be my best friend and let me know when things happen that might upset my family, Adam. No, you're supposed to call me before the last minute and I know you only do this because you like poking at Johnny and annoying him." Savannah sighed, pulling at her hair. "No. I'll get packed and get the first flight to Oregon that I can. I'll let you know when I make arrangements. And Adam, this time, be there to pick me up at the airport. No, because I am not calling Wyatt and Chris each time I need to get across the country to solve a family squabble. They're my family, not my taxi service. Yeah, me too, even if you are a pain in my ass." Savannah gasped and narrowed her eyes again. "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" She shook her head and hung up her cell phone.

Now the really hard part. She went into the bedroom and sunk down on Johnny's side of the bed. "Sweetheart? Sweetheart wake up, I need to talk to you."

After class, Savannah came back to the room to decide what she was wearing to the competition tonight. She was going through clothes when her cell phone started ringing.

You Know No Good Can Come From This )

Almost immediately, her phone started ringing again. Savannah glanced at the Caller ID, but didn't answer it. Adam needed some time to work off his temper.

The phone continued to ring off and on.

Savannah was sitting on the bed in her and Johnny's room. After the attempt to talk to Johnny about certain things in her head had gone nothing like she had intended -- and had brought up things she didn't want to think about, she had come back to the room to try to calm all of her emotions again.

She had tried to draw for a little bit because her art always helped her work things out, but so far all she had managed to do were sketches of Johnny as a kid and as a teenager --- and any one else she had come across as kid during the weekend.

Sighing, she set the pad down and reached for the grimoire she had been studying.

Witches cannot be princesses, her four year old self had said to Chris. Witches protect the princesses and others from danger.

She tapped her fingers on the grimoire.

Protecting people she cared about had become a serious thing to her... and since coming to Fandom, that group had increased in size. She tapped on the dark grimoire again. She had some darker witch magic... but there could come a time where that wouldn't be enough power. There was one person she knew that she could talk to about this and ask for help... and he would give it to her.

She looked at her cell phone thoughtfully. Did she dare...?

Apparently she did dare, because she started dialing a number from memory... )

She had heard people all day making plans to go to their homes for Thanksgiving and to be with their families.

Savannah... had decided not to go. Looking at the clock on the wall, she had officially decided this about fifteen minutes ago. She had been thinking about this all day, though.

As far as she knew, her boyfriend and all of her friends were leaving the island for the weekend.

Yet, Savannah was not.

She was pretty sure that there were two other people who weren't, either, and she wanted to be with them. She didn't want them to be lonely or alone.

She picked up the phone and smiled faintly when she heard her guardian answer.

"Hi, Paige. It's... no, I haven't left yet. I'm not." She let out a breath. "No, I'm okay, really. No... I really miss you guys and the Pack." She rolled her eyes. "No, Paige. Johnny's probably already left to be with his family for the weekend. Listen, I have the flu and I just don't feel like moving from my bed right now. No, I haven't. I know. If it gets bad I have spells or the clinic. I know you'll come get me if I get bad..." She took a deep breath. "Look, Paige... there's something I need to tell you. Are you sitting down?" She swallowed. "You know how the Fates seem to love to screw with people and their lives? Yeah, well... Eve's here. no, it's really her, Paige. I tested her and it's really my mom..."

After about fifteen minutes of reassurances and agreeing to pass messages to Eve, Savannah hung up.

Well, that was one secret she know longer had to struggle to keep. Paige was confused and worried, but trusted her when she said it really was her mom on the island. Of course, that wouldn't matter if Paige found out that Sean was here. If she found out any Nast was within a hundred miles of Savannah, she would no longer be a resident of Fandom.

One obstacle at a time.

At least her mother and brother wouldn't be alone on Thanksgiving now.

Savannah flopped back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.

Savannah hadn't heard from Paige or Lucas since she had been here, so she decided that she should probably call her guardian and let her know what was going on with her at camp.

Well, she could tell her a few things. Some things, she had better not mention... like Eve being here.

So, this would be why she was sitting on her bed in her alcove with her cellphone and waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.

I'm going to take the fact that I haven't gotten any outraged phone calls from authority figures... )

Savannah kicked back with a smile after she hung up the phone. Talking to Paige had been a good thing... and now she needed to decide what to do with the rest of her day.
