Savannah, well let's be honest, after seeing Kristof in the woods Thursday night, she had been hiding in her and Johnny's hotel ever since. She had thought that was a good plan seeing as how she and Kristof didn't originally part on very good terms.

The thing is that sometimes Savannah's good plans? They don't work out so well.

Because she received a call from Kristof this morning telling her that he wanted to see her and talk to this so-called fiance of hers.

Alone. He wanted only her and Johnny present and Sean and Eve were not invited for her to hide behind.

Savannah had cleaned and cleaned and cleaned -- growling at the hotel staff that tried to enter. (She'd apologize to Mary later.) Now, Savannah was nervously pacing up and down the main room of the suite while Johnny watched her.

He was rather calm himself. Beer seemed to help with that. But Savannah was beginning to make him anxious.

"Sweetheart, you're going to wear the floor out."

Savannah was squeezing her hands together and she turned anxious eyes to look at Johnny.

"He wants to talk to me? Why would he want to do that? I took his life away from him and ruined everything for him. Why does he want to meet you?" She looked around the room. "Shielding. I should do a shielding spell on you just in case."

"Come on, babe," he said, giving her a look that clearly said he could take care of himself.

"You're worrying too much. Let me just handle this, okay?"

Savannah slumped against the wall. "I just don't understand what he wants with us? Visiting mom and Sean, I can understand. They're not the ones that fucking killed him."

Savannah's eyes were huge in her face as she stressed and she looked at the mini bar wondering if it would help calm her down.

Thankfully, she was saved from further contemplations of the mini bar by a sharp knock at the door.

Kristof wasn't entirely looking forward to this conversation, either, simply because it was more the kind of thing that should have been spread over months or years of getting to know each other and they only had a few hours at best.

Savannah took a few deep breaths to try to clam her shaking and after one more look at Johnny, she stiffened her shoulders and managed to open the door.

"Hello again, Kristof," she said softly. "Please come in."

"Hello, Savannah," he said as he walked in. He wanted to hug her but he knew that wouldn't be a very good idea -- not yet, anyway -- so he settled for putting as much warmth as he could into his smile and his words.

She shut the door quietly. "Would you like something to drink? We have a fully stocked mini bar." Thank god for Mary. She gestured to Johnny. "Kristof, this is Johnny Storm, my fiance. Johnny, this is Kristof Nast... my father."

"Something strong," Kristof said to his daughter. To Johnny, he gave a distinct once-over as he sized him up. "It's good to meet you, young man."

It wasn't quite good, but he couldn't say it was a pleasure, and he owed his daughter too much to lie to her fiance. He got the feeling Johnny would appreciate the frankness, if not the actual words.

Johnny didn't mind the once-over, he did the same as he smoothly came to his feet and stepped forward, hand extended. "Kristof," he said, nodding once.

Savannah was not hyperventilating as she went to the mini bar to make Kristof a drink. And you know what, she was just going to make one for herself, too. That would make the nerves stop, right? She took a drink while her back was to her father and fiance and carefully did not shudder at the taste.

She came back to the two men and handed Kristof his drink. "I hope you're another one who likes Crown Royal. I think that's the strongest thing we have."

No Savannah, that would be the tequila in that glass you're holding.

"I've rarely been picky about my alcohol, much to my father's dismay. Apparently a Cabal son should only like the best, which naturally means the most expensive on the planet."

Why yes, Kristof had always had his own issues with his family.

Johnny took Savannah by the elbow and gently pulled her closer to him after Kristof had his...Crown Royal.

"I'm more of a beer man myself," he commented, eyes smiling at Savannah as he attempted to help calm her nerves.

She looked up at Johnny, feeling some of the nerves -- not all, but some -- start easing up a bit. "You just don't like the Crown Royal because that's what Papa Benicio drinks anytime we see him and there is drinking," she tried to tease. She swallowed and looked back at Kristof. "You said on the phone that we needed to talk, so let's have a seat."

Before she collapsed herself.

"It's not nearly as bad as you think," he assured her as they moved to sit. Or tried to assure her, anyway. "I just have to pack months' worth of questions into the space of a couple hours."

To Johnny, he said, "Nothing wrong with beer. There's a few kinds I'm partial to, myself. Some great Stateside little local brews, mostly."

Well, at least they had something in common besides Savannah. It was a start... sort of...

"I'd rather not have anything in common with the man, sweetheart," he said, grinning slightly as he led her to the small, comfortable sofa.

Kristof could have a seat in one of the two chairs facing them if he desired.

"Uh-huh," came his reply to Kristof. They were really talking about beer, weren't they? If the conversation went along this way, hell, Johnny thought he had this evening made.

She laughed softly. "But you do, love. You're both as protective as hell when it comes to me." It was probably a good thing that what she was going to tell Kristof in a few minutes, Benicio didn't know.

She sat close to Johnny as they all took their seats. then looked at Kristof. "Papa Benicio is a very good grandfather for the most part," she murmured. She took a deep breath and met Kristof's eyes. "Before you start, there's something I need to say. I know it wasn't you." She took another breath. "I know now that it wasn't you that tried to kill Paige -- that Leah thought had killed Paige for you. It was..." The last name was murmured very, very quietly.

Date: 2010-07-20 10:01 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
And that? Would be Kristof trying very, very, very hard not to explode. So his temper went the way it always did, quiet and cold and vicious.

"Johnny? If you ever get the chance to kill Hector? Please do."

He somehow had a feeling Johnny really wouldn't have a problem with that, not if it came in the name of protecting Savannah. Call it a hunch.

Date: 2010-07-21 02:28 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
Johnny reached for Savannah's hand although kept his eyes on Kristof.

"I'm certain I won't hesitate." Because yes, it just might give him pleasure to finally get to kill someone whose harmed Savannah in some destructive fashion or another.

Date: 2010-07-21 02:38 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah shook her head. "You can't," she whispered. "Hector is Benicio's older son. He hates Lucas and wanted to kill Paige to hurt Lucas. He had no idea that it was going to cause ... what happened at the house and ..." She swallowed, looking down. She looked at Johnny. "Hector Cortez is Lucas' brother and he doesn't know that his brother tried to kill Paige. She never wanted him to know. But it's Hector who made sure that every Cabal in the the world knew that I was the one who k-killed..." She took a breath, looking into his eyes because if she didn't, she'd start being hysterical. "He's the one who made sure that everyone knew I killed the Nast heir."

Still reining in his temper -- because while there were a good many people he wanted to unleash it on, his daughter and her fiance were not two of those people -- Kristof asked, "But how do you know it was Hector?"

He hated the look in Savannah's eyes, the look that said she was barely holding it together. He wanted to do something for her, cast a calming spell, but he didn't think that would go over well. So he settled for the only other thing he could think of. He gave her his full attention, wanting her to at least know that he was taking this seriously. That he was taking her seriously.
