Room 217, All Day

Savannah had packed most of her stuff and sent it on to New York a couple of days ago.

All that was left now were some of her art supplies, her laptop, some clothes and of course, Destiny and her new kitten.

She really couldn't quite believe that this was it. After all, this had been her home for the last three years. Yes, she was excited about the new paths ahead of her and what she had plans to do, but leaving this place was still really hard for her.

She tried focusing on packing and organizing the last of her things, instead of letting herself get too sad about saying goodbye.

That probably wasn't going to work for very long.

Hinata, sans Yei, appeared in Savannah's doorway sometime around lunch.

"I would have thought," she said, softly, "that you'd be smiling more, now. I would not call this a good-bye."

Savannah looked up and gave her friend a small smile. "It's hard to leave this place after three years," she admitted. "Even if I am happy and excited about where I'm going."

Her smile was gentle.

"You can visit," Hinata replied. "But I k-know that is not the same."

Savannah nodded. "I know I can come and visit, and you bet that I will. It just seems so strange right now."

"Because this was your home for so long?"

Hinata sighed. "I understand, I do."

Savannah smiled faintly. "Yeah. It's been my home for three years and it seems very weird to be leaving it now."

"It will still be your home," she said, with a smile. "I do not think the island gives up easily."

Not really, no. As evidenced by the weird that tended to follow the graduates.

"Rather than thinking on leaving," Hinata suggested carefully, "perhaps focusing on the good parts would make it easier? N-Not just the good of this time, but over the years."

She laughed. "You have a good point. I'm certain that the island will always consider us as belonging to it no matter where we go."

That really wasn't as creepy as it sounded, right?

She tilted her head. "And you know that you call or e-mail me whenever you like, right?"

It was, however you looked at it, a bit creepy, though.

Hinata blinked and tried very hard not to drop her eyes or fiddle with her sleeves or anything at all. "I w-would not want to be a bother."

Which was Hinata-speak for, yes, she knew that and she'd probably tie herself in knots before ever managing to get an e-mail off. Hinata was like that.

It was tough, keeping up this act of 'I'm so happy, even though you're leaving,' but Darkness knew that goodbyes were hard enough without her looking sad and miserable. So Karla was smiling and merry as she poked her head in Savannah's door. "Kiss, kiss," she called. "Queen of Fandom coming to see off her favorite Lady of the Court."

"This Lady of the Court is happy to welcome the Queen of Fandom to her humble rooms," Savannah said, doing her best to smile and be cheerful. "Hey, Karla."

Yeah, this was hard. And she hadn't been looking forward to saying goodbye to Karla, even though she knew she would probably see her as often as they could.

"You're looking like you've got most everything packed up," Karla said, looking around. And wincing at the inanity of that comment. "There goes my plan of offering to help. And vanishing things so you couldn't go. Quite tricksy, Lady Savannah."

Savannah shook her head. "My new fiance was quite determined that nothing was keeping me from joining him this week," she said. "I told him that you wanted to keep me, but for some reason he didn't like that idea." She smiled. "Although he did say that my favorite Queen was always welcome to come visit us in New York."

"Fiance?" Karla asked, eyebrow raised. "I'm pretty sure you called him your boyfriend, last time we spoke."

Savannah laughed, blushing a bit. "Yeah, I did. He uhm... he asked me to marry him the night before graduation."

"Well?" Karla waited expectantly. "And the ring? The details? Come on, Savannah! Do I have to pry everything out of you?"

Savannah giggled and held out her ring for Karla to see. "He said that he loved me and would love me forever, and asked me to be his wife."

Sam didn't like having to do two of these in one day, but he didn't want to let Savannah leave without saying goodbye. He knocked on the door and smiled at her, watching her pack. "Need any help?" he asked.

Savannah looked up from where she was zipping the duffel bag with her art supplies. "I don't think so," she said, trying to smile. "I think I'm just about done."

"Are you sure? I could hide a few things on you so you have to stay longer," Sam said with a smirk.

"Oh if only that would work," Savannah said. "But then we'd have Johnny here wondering why the hell I hadn't shown up in New York yet."

"Oh, well, you don't want to keep him waiting," Sam said. "Speaking of Johnny, I don't think I've gotten to see your ring yet."

Okay, now that smile was much brighter and happier than her previous one. "There's been a lot going on," she said as she extended her hand so he could see the ring.

"Oh, very nice," Sam said, impressed with Johnny's shopping skills. "When do you think you're going to do the actual wedding thing? Or is that like, the furthest thing from your mind right now?"

Savannah shrugged. "I honestly don't know, but I know it won't be too far in the future. You're going to be there, right?"
