Thursday, After Firearms Workshop, Room 217

Savannah was hanging out in her room after her Firearms workshop. Yet one more workshop that she would never be telling her guardians she was taking. She also kept looking up and staring at the flowers that she had found waiting for her.

Yesterday at Serenity Cove had been nice and fun with Chris. She was pretty impressed with the fact that he could orb in and out of places... and he hadn't seemed to be disconcerted when she was juggling fireballs. Talking about their different powers and outlooks had been pretty interesting, too.

Tonight, Johnny had a surprise planned for her and she was curious as to what he was up to. Their conversation yesterday had been both interesting and confusing... and he had seemed really interested in getting information about Chris.

She really was going to have to talk to Eve and maybe Anders or Wyatt, too. Dating was confusing.

Currently, though, she was going over notes from her workshops this week.

Sean had been afraid of exactly two things in his life. One had been disappointing his father. The other was calling his sister. (Funnily enough, the three-hour conversation he'd just had with Benicio Cortez was nowhere near being number three on that list.)

But he was nothing if not determined, and so he was pacing his room with his cell-phone in hand. He punched the number in and waited.

The cell phone ringing distracted her from her thinking and she smiled as she reached for it. The caller ID wasn't a number she recognized, so she merely shrugged and flipped the phone open.

"Levine."

"Savannah? Um, hi. My name's Sean." And now he was slightly nervous. "Don't hang up on me, but... I'm your brother."

Savannah frowned suspiciously and pulled the phone away to stare at it for a second. Replacing it, she shook her head. "Exuse me?"

"I'm your brother Sean."

"Sean who?" If Adam was playing a trick on her he was so getting a magical mail bomb.

"Nast," he replied, settling down on his bed. "Our father was Kristof Nast. Your mother was Eve Levine, mine's Belinda Nast."

As he mentioned Eve and Kristof, Savannah sat down heavily on her bed.

"Nast, you say? Is this some kind of joke? I'm not exactly on the list of favourite people of the Nast Cabal."

"Well, that makes two of us, then," Sean quipped. "Figured I should call you. You know, one outcast child to another. For the record? You have one incredibly imposing pseudo-grandfather." Referring, of course, to Benecio Cortez.

"Eve wasn't evil! She was murdered while trying to keep me safe!" Savannah bit the inside of her cheek, trying to fight back the memories of the night Kristof had died.

"He told me he would keep Paige safe. He promised me. Then Leah showed me someone carrying Paige's body from our father's house." She clenched her fist against her knee. "I exploded. I wanted my mom back. I needed her back because she had never let me down and I knew she would help me. I took the Grimoires and I started calling things up, trying to bring Eve back. He... Kristof... he tried to calm me down... and I shoved him away."

Savannah squeezed her eyes shut, but a tear still escaped. "I didn't think I shoved him that hard... but my power was already growing. He... he hit the stone wall."

"Because Dad knew there was no way you were going to get Eve back and he didn't want you to call something evil." Sean inhaled sharply at her next words. "Was... was he dead immediately? Do you know?" He sounded almost desperate. He'd never been told much of anything.

Another tear slipped down her cheek. "Paige said it was instant... that I didn't cause him to..."

"Well, at least there's that much." That was a relief to know. "Were you okay? Did you get hurt?"

He was still angry, yes, but no longer at her. He'd gotten over that before he'd called. This wasn't a call he could've made if angry.

"I was a bit mental and really emotionally wrecked, but physically I was fine. Lucas and Paige made Leah pay for what she did... and for making me think he had killed Paige." She swallowed. "I don't think I could have gotten through it if they hadn't."

"And if they hadn't, you'd have done it or gone down trying." He laughed softly. "You get that from our father. Stubborn, determined bastard, he was. But that was one of the things I loved about him."

"I would have made Leah pay for everything she had done to me and to Paige in the time I had known her. What she caused to happen to D... to Kristof was the final straw."

"And a Nast's revenge is never a pretty thing." Sean shook his head. "Bet he was proud of you, in the little time he knew you. Dad was proud of all his kids."

"I'm here. Living in town, actually. At the hotel."

"When?"

"Got here a couple days ago."

"Were... were you coming after me?" Hey, it was a valid question.

"No! Not like you think. I mean, I came specifically to Fandom Town after I found out you were at the school, but that was just because I figured if I'm going to be out on my own and living my life, maybe I could get to know my sister."

That was a sigh of relief heard through the phone. "You know that your family isn't going to like this."

"Fuck 'em," was his succinct reply. "They already don't like me. What's one more reason on the list?"

"If you're here with me... Benicio won't let them mess with you."
