Room 217, Evening

Savannah was sick.

She had slept off and on most of the day -- even though she hadn't planned to. Everytime she woke up, she was sure she was getting up to go to work and do other things. However, her body had other ideas and she would start coughing, or just end up falling back to sleep.

Needless to say, she wasn't enjoying herself right now.

And her boyfriend was getting worried. He stuck around the room today to watch her, get her anything if she needed it, and for dinner he had fixed her a bowl of chicken noodle though she didn't seem much interested in it.

For the upteenth time he leaned over and pressed his hand to her brow to check for fever.

Savannah opened her eyes when he did that this time.

"Hey," she said softly, and a little confused. Her voice was hoarse.

"Sweetheart," he murmured and leaned further to kiss her brow. "Can I get you some water?" Johnny was thinking clinic and if she wasn't better come tomorrow, that just might be a firm consideration.

"Okay," she nodded. "What time is it?"

She wasn't aware she had slept all day.

"It's almost bedtime," he told her and reached over for a cold class of water that he'd had on setting on the nightstand. Helping her, he brought the edge to her lips.

She leaned against him and drank some of the water.

"Have I been out all day?"

"Off and on," he told her, holding the glass for her until she'd had her fill. "You don't sound too good. What's hurting babe?"

"My throat and head," she murmured. "That and I just feel so tired. Everything else seems fine."

He hoped she was not coming down with the flu because that would suck so bad for her and there would be nothing he could do for it except let it run its course. "Can I do anything for you?"

The flu would suck... especially since she would never stay put and rest long enough to get over it in a reasonable amount of time.

"Can you rub my neck? It's really sore."

"Of course, baby," he murmured and let her get into position first before he started, warming his hands to ease her muscles.

"Oooh," she said softly. "That feels so nice, love."

Johnny was careful, gentle with her, but firmly working his fingers and palms over her flesh, willing the muscles to give under the warmth. "I'm sorry you don't feel well, sweetheart. I wish there was something I could do."

Savannah was relaxing against him. "You are doing something, love. This is helping so much."

"Tomorrow, we'll see how you feel. If you're not doing any better, I'm taking you to the clinic, okay?"

She didn't like the idea of going to the clinic, but she nodded anyway.

"All right. If I'm still sick, you can take me," she promised.

"I promise you," he said, "I will only take you if it's absolutely necessary, okay?" Johnny knew her fear and he wouldn't cause her unnecessary stress and hurt and everything associated with the clinic for her.

"I know," she said, leaning against him more and closing her eyes as he relaxed her muscles. She trusted him completely.
