walks_two_paths | A Secluded Part of Serenity Cove, Sunday Night

Savannah had gotten some of her tools from the dorms and then headed down to Serenity Cove.

It was her favorite place to work -- and there was a smaller likelihood of someone getting caught in the crossfire down here.

She created a ring of stones and sat in the center, trying to get her center and her balance. She finally stood up and let out a breath, before she opened her hand and let a spell fly at one of the rocks. Chips fell off the rock as power hit it.

He stood off silently, behind her, watching her for a moment as she threw a spell. Johnny imagined that those chips were nothing compared to what she can really do.

Worrying her bottom lip, and unaware anyone was there, Savannah clenched her fist as she prepared another spell. When it was ready, she opened her hand and power hit the rock. It shook for a second, and then a crack appeared.

He smiled softly, at that crack, but still he simply watched. She was amazingly beautiful against the backdrop of night. A small fire, perhaps, would be perfect.

Johnny, quietly, began to collect stray pieces of wood.

Savannah closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She was completely still for about two minutes as she focused her mind and her spell. She opened two hands and shot power at the rock... which shattered apart.

She dropped to her knees, taking a few breaths and getting her center back.

The fire was ignited just as she dropped to her knees and Johnny moved quickly to her, kneeling before her. "Hey, you okay? Sweetheart... was it too much?"

Savannah lifted her head dazedly. "Johnny. Hrmm? No, I just... I haven't done that in awhile... my magic works a bit differently than others."

"...you feel okay?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.

"I'm okay love. I just hadn't done that recently and it took some extra energy to get me to that level."

He studied her a moment, then grinned. "Well all right then, let's get this party started." Standing, Johnny moved away from her and yelled, "Flame on!" And he shot up in the air, circling around her for a moment while she regained her engery to send something towards him, if she could. "Whoo hoo! Come on, baby!"

Savannah grinned and started using her power to send chunks of the broken boulder out in front of him.

And Johnny threw fireballs at them, disinigrating them mid-air. Yes. He was that hot.

Savannah continued to toss the rocks up into the air at varying speeds and using different levels of her knock-back spell to send them towards him.

He blew up everyone, enjoying himself immensely. As soon as Savannah paused, he flew back down, extinguishing himself all but his arm. "You are totally awesome."

Savannah blushed a little. "You're pretty damn impressive, yourself."

"...wish I could go supernova. Now that's wicked," he told her, creating small poofy fireballs; watching as he tossed them up in the air to disintegrate.

"Supernova?" Savannah asked in confusion.

"Hot as the sun, sweetheart. That's how hot I can get. Which? Would be bad considering I would threaten the whole Earth. I've done it once," he told her, remembering Victor. "But then Sue was there to create a force field, containing the tornado of fire I built." Johnny extinguished his flame, looking down.

Savannah's eyes widened slightly.

"That sounds like it could be dangerous in more ways than one... and to you." She bit her lip. "My shield spells are not as strong as that, yet. I'm sorry."

You could better believe she was going to start working on them and and looking for any other shielding spells she could learn. She might have to look into the sorcerer books.

"It didn't bother me the first time," he said, pondering that certain evening. "Winded me a bit, but I think the damage was more to Sue. Our powers were new and it had been hard on her. I keep it under control. I wouldn't dare to go that hot again unless it was absolutely necessary and only if it could be contained." He reached out, caressed her cheek. "Don't be sorry, sweetheart. What for?"

"That I'm not powerful enough to help you with that, at least. But if I were to somehow get ahold of one of the Cabal books, I bet I could learn how to increase the power of my shield spells even quicker..."

Oh bad, bad idea. She was pretty sure that her family back home and Eve and Sean would have multiple heart attacks if she tried to get ahold of Cabal information by herself.

"No," he was already shaking his head before she finished. "Don't, Savannah. You don't need to go that far. No."

Savannah looked up into his face. "But if I could do something do help so you cold use your powers like you want to..."

It was a worthwhile risk, as far as she was concerned.

"If I do it the usual way, it could take awhile before I'm that strong."

"I don't need to do that. I don't. Not unless people I love, or people in general were at risk, or being threatened and the only way to take care of it was to go supernova. I don't need to do it, Savannah and I don't what you trying to do something that could hurt you."

Savannah gave him a thoughtful look for a long moment.

"Well, if it's somehting you don't need to do, I guess perhaps drawing the attention of the Cabals is not something I really need to do... I can just keep working on that spell like I work on my more dangerous ones."

"I don't want you near any Cabals, seriously. Promise me you won't do anything stupid, Savannah," yeah, he was being pushy here.

"What kind of dangerous? Dammit, Savannah, what have you been up to?"

"I won't, I swear." Considering that she had been the one to tell him how dangerous the Cabals were to her, she didn't blame him for being a little bit pushy.

Savannah blinked at him. "Johnny, calm down. I promise, I've only been working on my powers and stuff. Not all of the spells are happy shiny ones. The higher level spells can be dangerous if I try to do them without the right amount of physical and mental energy." She looked at him. "There's always a risk, sweetheart. I try to make sure I don't take undue ones when I work on those."

Nothing as bad as say, trying to bring the dead back to life...

He folded his arms across his chest, and stared down at her. "I think you should keep me close when you work on those. Deal?" If she told him no, he wouldn't accept it and he'd let her know it in a heartbeat.

Somehow, she figured the stubborn Levine look wasn't going to work on Johnny. So, she tried Savannah logic, even though she was already going to agree.

"Sweetheart, if you're with me when I work on those and I drop because I expended too much energy, you're going to get upset seeing that..."

"Yeah, you bet your ass I will get upset. Why work on something that can hurt you?"

Savannah rubbed her forehead. "Because there will be a day that there is no one around to help me and I'll need to be able to protect myself from the ones trying to kill me, Johnny." She looked at him. "The spells only hurt if I'm not in prime condition when I practice them." She bit her lip and then sighed. "Besides, wouldn't it make you feel better to know that I can do something to take care of things when you're not able to be around?"

He frowned down at her, grinding down on his jaw. She was right, he knew it, didn't mean he had to like it and he let her know that with the intensely dark look he was giving her. "I will be around when you practice them. Understood?"

She let out the breath she had been holding and then nodded.

"All right," she agreed, hating to see how upset he was about this. "When I practice the dangerous ones, you'll be there." She gave him a tentative smile. "It'll give you an idea of what being me entails, too, huh?"

Her powers sometimes scared the hell out of her, and she was the one bound to them.

Johnny gave her a slight nod. "I don't like it, but I will be here when you do it. And yeah, guess seeing what all you can do would be something I should know."

Savannah chewed her bottom lip. "I worried you."

"Yes," he admitted. "You did. I don't like the thought of you being hurt. At all."

"I don't like the thought of anything happening to you, either," she said softly. "I'm sorry."

He reached out and pulled her into his arms. "Don't be, I just worry. I love you and need you to be safe."

Savannah wrapped her arms around him. "I'll do my best, love, I promise." She lifted her face to look up at him. "Same goes for me, you know. I need you to be safe, too."

"Always," he said and bent to kiss the tip of her nose, then further to kiss her mouth.

Savannah kissed him, letting her love and concern be felt as she held onto him. She loved him so much and then thought of anything happening bothered her.

Johnny deepended the kiss, bringing her up closer, his hand splaying over the small of her back.

"I love you so much," she murmured as she ran her hands up his back.

"I love you too, Savannah, so much," he said, holding her close. "Do you want to practice some more, or head back to our room?"

"We can go back to our room," she nodded. "We can do this again later."

"All right," he said and took her hand, heading back for the dorms.
