Savannah hadn't heard from Paige or Lucas since she had been here, so she decided that she should probably call her guardian and let her know what was going on with her at camp.

Well, she could tell her a few things. Some things, she had better not mention... like Eve being here.

So, this would be why she was sitting on her bed in her alcove with her cellphone and waiting for the person on the other end to pick up.

"I'm going to take the fact that I haven't gotten any outraged phone calls from authority figures as a sign that summer camp isn't nearly as bad as you expected," was how Paige answered the phone.

Savannah rolled her eyes. "I'll have you know I have been on my best behavior. I even ended up doing campus radio one night." She grinned. "And the school was turned to rubble before I even got here."

"What? That wasn't in the information we got," Paige said, immediately sounding concerned.

Savannah shrugged. "I know, but they apparently demolished it because they wanted to make it bigger for the students and faculty, I guess." She frowned. "What I also didn't know is that I would be living in a cabin in the woods for three weeks, Paige."

"Ew, I didn't know that either," Paige said, sounding vaguely disgusted at the notion. "Other than that, how are you liking it?"

Let's see, what is on the list of "Things to Never Tell Paige and Lucas" and what isn't?

"The place has some really cute guys and fascinating workshops. I'm taking the maximum of four. One of them is how to learn to be a Ninja."

There was a pause. "What kind of school has classes on how to be a ninja?"

"A summer camp in Nowhereland, Virginia?" Savannah asked. "It's been pretty entertaining. Some of the stuff he's teaching... I can already do with spells."

"Savannah," Paige warned. "We told you no magic."

"Paige... I said I already could do them. That doesn't mean I was using magic in class." She wasn't about to tell her about the marathon spell-casting last weekend.

Paige sighed. "All right. So, all in all, it's not as bad as you thought it would be?"

"I went on a date."

"Get me his full name, date of birth and social security number so I can run a background check."

Savannah laughed. "Paige!" She smiled. "Do you think that's really necessary?" Yeah, she was not telling her about the incident in class about the shirt.

"Any guy who wants to date you needs approval from me and Lucas," Paige replied. "And possibly Elena and Jeremy."

"And Clay and Adam and Robert and Benicio..." She sighed. "Am I forgetting anyone?"

Paige laughed. "We just want you to be safe and happy."

"I know you do, but you also worry too much." She smirked. "Hey, you know how you said you wanted me to do normal teenager things?"

"Yes," Paige said, hearing the smirk in Savannah's voice.

"I'm A Fandom High Gremlin cheerleader."

"... a what?"

"I'm on the cheerleading squad. Sit down before you die from the shock, but yes, for some reason I tried out for the squad and I'm a Cheerleader."

"Well, that's certainly a normal teenage activity," Paige agreed. "But your school mascot is a gremlin?"

"Uhmm... yeah. Pretty weird, huh?"

"Very much so," Paige said, just as Lucas's voice could be heard in the background saying, "Hi, Savannah, we have an appointment to see a house, so Paige has to go now."

"Hi, Lucas." She smiled. "Bye Paige. I'll talk to you later."

"I'm glad you're having fun, Savannah. Please be good and we'll talk to you soon," Paige said.

"I am always good. Oh, and tell Jeremy he fails because of the cabins." She wasn't about to tell them that the cabins were co-ed.

Paige laughed. "Okay, I'll do that. Bye, hon. Take care of yourself."

"You, too, Paige." Savannah smiled. "Talk to you later."

Savannah kicked back with a smile after she hung up the phone. Talking to Paige had been a good thing... and now she needed to decide what to do with the rest of her day.

And that was when Eve plopped down on the bed. "Hey, kid," she said, giving a cheerful grin. Eve and cheerful were bad things to combine.

Savannah raised an eyebrow. "Hi there."

She was very well aware that this was a bad combination.

"What have you been up to?"

Come on, she knew her mother.

"Saw Johnny this morning -- and before you say anything, I was perfectly nice to him." What? Eve knew her daughter.

Her eyes widened. She looked around to make sure no one was nearby to hear her. Then she cast a small silence spell so no one outside her alcove could hear her.

"Mom," she hissed. "What did you do?"

Date: 2007-05-31 04:36 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"Nothing any overprotective family member wouldn't do," Eve assured her. "Told him if he ever hurt you, I'd make him wish I'd only put him in unbearable pain."

And this was Eve without know the whole story of the shirt incident. Which was probably a good thing.

Savannah groaned and released the spell so it dissipated. She might have also facepalmed.

"Eve..."

Yeah, it had been a good idea to not tell Eve about the shirt part of the story.

Date: 2007-05-31 04:47 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"But I was perfectly nice up until then!" Eve protested. "Normal people's definition of the word, too!"

Date: 2007-05-31 04:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She probably had been.

"He's probably not going to want to talk to me again. I had to convince Wyatt that he didn't need his ass kicked after the shirt thing in art."

Date: 2007-05-31 05:14 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"Okay, what? The shirt thing in art? What shirt thing?"

Date: 2007-05-31 05:28 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Shit!

"Nothing," she mumbled. "It was no big deal."

Date: 2007-05-31 05:56 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"Don't give me that," Eve said, hauling out the Mom Voice. "What happened, Savannah?"

Date: 2007-05-31 05:59 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah looked down at her bed, trying to figure out how to tell her mom what had happened without getting Johnny killed.

"There might have been a tiny, really tiny, really, chance that Johnny... that he might have... suggestedthatItakeoffmyshirtsothatIcouldpressagainsthisbodyandgetallglittery too."

Date: 2007-05-31 06:03 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
Eve had to take a moment to translate that into normal speech, but once she had...

"What. The. Fuck."

Date: 2007-05-31 06:06 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah sighed. "He wasn't himself and he called to apologize last night."

Date: 2007-05-31 07:06 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
Well, at least he'd apologized. That mollified her somewhat.

"And why wasn't he himself?"

Date: 2007-05-31 07:48 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
"I...I don't know. He says he doesn't know, either."

Date: 2007-05-31 11:22 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"Uh-huh." Eve looked skeptical. "Somehow, I don't know if I believe that."

Date: 2007-05-31 11:53 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
"He seemed really upset and apologetic."
