Room 217, Sunday Evening

After her session with Ronan, Savannah had did some jogging and then worked out in the gym for a little while. After taking a very long shower, she had returned to her room, where she was now sitting on the bed and brushing out her damp hair.

As she was brushing out her hair, she was listening to something playing on her computer, but she couldn't tell you what it was.

Anders ignored the crack at his choice of profanity, and with a quick lance at the look on Savannah's face forced himself to take a deep breath, and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Look," he said, his voice as calm as he could get it -- which meant still edged with a good bit of tension. "I just don't want to see her hurt and go through the kind of stuff I did, before. That's all."

And if he still thought Johnny could be capable of that, well . . .

Johnny noticed Savannah was on the verge of tears and despite Anders being in the room, he went to pull her in against his side, kissing her temple. Then he reached for her chin, tipping her face up gently so that he could look into her eyes, whispering, "It's cool; trust me."

Then he faced Anders and remembered what he just recently went through with Phoebe and Bel. "I'm not going to hurt her. I promise you that, Anders. In the off-chance that I do, you have my permission to beat the holy hell outta me, all right?" But it wasn't going to happen. Johnny wasn't going to hurt her. Ever.

Savannah was looking between the two of them, still on the verge of tears. She really didn't want Johnny and Anders fighting about her or their relationship. If they did keep fighting, she would leave... and go to the beach or to Eve's room... or maybe Sean's place.

Anders studied him for a very long, very tension-fraught moment, his shoulders heaving as he concentrated on keeping his breathing slow and even.

He didn't quite believe Johnny, but he didn't want Savannah upset, either, so . . . for the time being . . . maybe he'd hold his peace.

"Yeah, okay," he said finally, his tone grudging. "I'll take your word for it, Storm."

The for now went unspoken but was likely extremely evident.

The you don't have any choice went unspoken as well, but it was there in Johnny's posture and eyes as they were intent on Anders.

"Fine."

Savannah bit her lip, shaking her head slightly. "I wasn't trying to cause a fight," she said quietly. "I don't want my adopted big brother and my boyfriend to hate each other."

"It's okay," Anders tried to assure her. "Just looking out for you . . . from two different points of view, I guess."

Johnny grabbed her hand, squeezed her fingers reassuringly. "I like Anders, sweetheart. He just cares for you, probably more than necessary though."

"If you guys fight, I will put you in different corners." The slight sway she did may have taken the threat out of her words.

"You can't care about somebody too much," protested Anders. "I'm not fighting, okay? Look, maybe I should just go, let you guys . . ." He coughed.

"Leave you guys alone. In a totally innocent way."

Johnny had to chuckle at that. "Yeah, Anders. You can go and leave me to my girlfriend. In a totally innocent way. Trust me, dude."

Savannah stepped up and hugged Anders. "Thank you for caring so much, big brother. But Johnny isn't someone you have to worry about."

Anders gave her a tight hug. "Okay, little sis. I'll take your word for it." Implying, perhaps ever so slightly, that he'd take her word but not necessarily Johnny's. "I'm glad you're happy, though," he added in a hasty whisper.

Johnny sort of bouced and grinned cheerily. "I'm happy too! So so happy!" Yes, he could be a dork. So?

That caused Savannah to giggle as she shook her head. "I am happy, Anders. Johnny makes me happy."

Anders recognized that look on Johnny's face. He knew what it felt like to be that dorky and happy over a new relationship, and that softened him up a bit.

"Yeah, okay. I can't argue with that."
