It was all over.
Savannah couldn't find Johnny and the rest of the Fantatstic Four. Hell, she was having a hard time locating anyone outside of New York City, either. Paige and Lucas weren't listed and the phone for Stonehaven was no longer in service.
She had finally packed a bag and raced from the penthouse to the lower lobby of the Baxter Building. The lobby was mostly deserted and she went outside to flag her own cab down. She didn't know exactly where she was going, but she knew she had to get out of New York City.
She was about to flag down a cab when she was aware of screaming and she turned to look in the direction of the screams.
Blackness. In a place where there should be skyscrapers and cars and so many people there was ... nothing.
And it was getting closer.
She couldn't take her eyes off of the approaching menace. She couldn't outrun it and she knew that there was no way that magic was going to save her from this.
Her hands were shaking as she tried to dial the phone and failed to key the correct numbers.
"Mama," she whispered. She had to call Isabel, let her know what had happened, say goodbye. She just couldn't seem to dial the number right now as she faced down the ending of everything she knew.
