Savannah hadn't gotten home until late last night, so after her class she was pretty tired...

...except she just couldn't sleep.

She was thinking about the time she had spent with Johnny and how nice it had been.

However, she was still replaying the conversation from the phone call yesterday.

The one from the brother she hadn't known she had.

Savannah rolled over and made a few phone calls. She needed to talk to someone about all of this.

Eve didn't know what to say -- and that was a rarity for her. "How'd he react?"

"He... I think he believed me that it was an accident." Tears pulled in her eyes. "I didn't mean to..."

"Ssh, baby," Eve soothed, wrapping an arm around Savannah and hugging her. "I know you didn't, baby girl. I know you didn't."

Savannah choked back tears as she leaned into Eve. "I told him... I told him how it happened."

"Good. He deserved to know." Eve rubbed her daughter's back with one hand. "How did he react to it?" She was trying not to ask too many questions, since this was Savannah's story to tell, but it was difficult not to.

"He was glad he didn't suffer... and he thanked me for telling him."

"Sounds like he's a good guy." Eve was glad. She'd peeked in on Sean -- and his brother Bryce -- from time to time, but watching them was different than hearing about them. And if one of Savannah's brothers had to contact her, she was glad it was the nicer one.

"Mom... he's here."

"Whaaaat?" Eve pulled back to look at Savannah. "He is?"

Eve wasn't sure she liked that. "What's he doing here?"

Well... that wasn't too bad. Yet. "Would you want to get to know him?"

Savannah bit her lip and then nodded slowly. "He seems to be the only Nast that doesn't want me dead and... Mom, he called Benicio."

"Kid's got balls," Eve said, nodding thoughtfully. "Or else he's insane. I'm not quite sure which."

"He said that my pseudo-grandfather is very imposing." She looked at Eve. "He said he came for me... but not in the way to hurt me. I'm his sister and... he said that dad was proud of me because I was a lot like yu."

That made Eve smile. "I'm glad your father was proud of you," she said. "It's nice hearing that. Because I was scared that he wouldn't be, that he wouldn't want you... and even though I know it was mostly excuses and I was full of shit... some worries don't go away so easily."
