walks_two_paths | Room 217, Sunday Afternoon Into Evening

After the away team was transported back to Fandom and the island moved back to Maryland and away from Nemesis, Savannah went and took a long, long shower. She was sweaty from everything, and exhausted from not sleeping all weekend. Of course, the using so much magic in a short amount of time probably didn't help any.

Neither did having to fight a version of the brother that wanted to kill her.

When the water in the shower ran cold, Savannah dried off and got changed into comfortable clothing. After combing her hair out, she headed back to her and Johnny's room. Grabbing one of the stuffed animals he had given her, Savannah curled up on their bed -- Destiny curling up at her feet. She was trying not to let everything get to her and start her crying.

Sean was okay and won his forced match. Gwynn had lost hers and gotten hurt, but Ronan had worked on her so that she would heal. Eve had gotten to beat up on Guy, so she was feeling a little better and keeping an eye on her best friend. For her part, Savannah was relieved that no one from Nemesis had tried to force her into a match.

She closed her eyes and curled tighter around the bear she held. While part of her had wished so much that Johnny had been here this weekend, a bigger part of her was glad he was safely away with his family. She didn't know what would have happened if she had to watch both Johnny and Sean fight it out in the tournaments.

Later that evening, Johnny walked through the door and declared as he dropped his bag to the floor, "Honey, I'm home." He would have then pounced on her, seeing her on the bed, but he wasn't sure if she was sleeping or not so he eased himself down next to her after a quick petting of Destiny. "Hey, babe. You awake?"

As soon as she felt him next to her and heard his voice, Savannah turned over and hugged him tightly.

Johnny held her close, surprised that she'd missed him so much. "Hey... I was only gone a few days, sweetheart."

"I didn't know if I'd see you again," she said softly. "Fandom got kidnapped and we just got control back today."

She had not let go of him.

Wait. What?

Johnny totally pulled back from her, his head cocked. "Run that by me again?"

Not like she had planned to keep any of the weekend's events from him, Savannah sat up when he pulled away. She brought her knees up and wrapped her arms around them.

"There was another island like Fandom, but evil. It's called Nemesis and somehow those people kidnapped the whole island of us. They planned to take over and had all of these demands they wanted us to agree to. One of the demands was a tournament and they demanded fights with certain people. I wasn't one of them that was forced to fight... but Sean was, as was Gwynn." Her hands clenched. "Gwynn was hurt pretty badly when her opponent stabbed her in the shoulder. Sean... Sean had to fight Bryce."

Aw, hell. Johnny ran his hand back through his hair. "Why does shit always have to happen around here? You could have called me sweetheart, I would have come back. Where's Gwynn now? And Sean?"

"I didn't know where we were to tell you," she said honestly. "Or I would have called you. Gwynn is in her and Eves room resting. Ronan took care of her." She looked at him. "Until today, with the exception of Sean's match, I stayed here with Destiny. I didn't want to run into Bryce."

Groaning, Johnny fell back on the bed, arms behind his head, though he was still looking at her. "He was actually here? You didn't see him at all?"

"He was here," she took a shaky breath. "I didn't run into him until today when I was with our mayor and Eve -- and a group of people -- who snuck through the tunnel that linked our Special Collections to theirs to unlock the controls on their computer."

She swallowed. "I knew Eve would want to sneak off and find Guy, but if I was with her, she wouldn't leave me." She looked at him. "We all tried to be so safe and careful because I didn't want to get into a fight or get into trouble, but they were waiting for us when we blew the doors to the console area open."

He frowned. Not at her, but at what she was telling. "I picked one hell of a time to go home, didn't I?" He paused, feeling guilt over something he really shouldn't. "What happened with Bryce?"

"There was no way you, or anyone could have known that the entire island was going to be kidnapped by its evil twin," she pointed out with a frown.

Savannah was quiet for a long moment. "He attacked me when he saw me with the team. One of his fireballs managed to hit me, but I deflected the other one." She chewed on her lip before looking at him. "When he wakes up from what I did to him, he'll hate me even more than he already did. When he attacked me with fire, I used energy bolts to protect myself. He flew back into a wall and lost consciousness."

Johnny just wished his guilt was appeased by that explanation.

"Hit you where?" he asked low, his eyes studying her carefully. "I wish I had been here; I would have made it impossible for him to ever wake up."

"My shoulder. It's all right. I cleaned it and used a healing spell on it to take away the pain and start working on it." She reached for his hand. "You're not a killer, love."

She would have felt even worse if she knew he was feeling guilty for not being here.

"After we took care of the attackers, we blew up the barrier and the locks that were on the controls of Nemesis. Once we did that, the island took over. It said thank you and that it was returning us safely to Fandom. It did, too. We reappeared on the Causeway, and Nemesis Island retrieved all of the bad guys that were over here. Next thing we knew, Fandom was back home in Maryland."

He wasn't so sure about that. When pushed, especially when it involved someone he loved. But Johnny held her hand, bringing it to his mouth to kiss.

"I'm sorry, Savannah," he said low. "For not being here for you."

She tugged him gently to her, laying down and waiting for him to do the same.

"You have nothing to apologize for, Johnny. We had no way of knowing what was going to happen -- and I spent most of my time in here with Destiny."

Moving with her easily, he wrapped his arms around her, burying his face in the softness of her neck, inhaling the scent that was all her own. "I know. It's just... hell, Savannah, seems like everytime we turn around, something happens." Johnny kissed her neck, again and again.

"Life does that," she said softly, closing her eyes as he held her and kissed her. "We can't stop it, only control how we react to it. Today, we're all safe where we belong."

[[OOC: I'm falling asleep. Continue tomorrow?]]

Johnny continued to kiss her, careful of her shoulders because he wasn't sure which one it was, but he held her closer. "I love you."

[Perfectly fine as I was headed there myself! SP is love!]

Savannah kissed him, not really caring if she made her shoulder ache. She was just glad he was there.

"I love you, too," she said softly. "And I promise, I'm okay. Yeah a little tired from lack of sleep and then everything from today, but I'm safe and sound and so glad to see you."

"I don't want to bug you too much, but what did Bryce have to say to you?" he asked after kissing her neck again, keeping her close with his hands to her back, his arms around her though he allowed one hand to move up and hold to the nape of her neck, his fingers teasing her hair.

"You never bug me."

Savannah relaxed against Johnny, trying to find the words to tell him how much Bryce scared her.

"Well, during his match with Sean, he told him that after he beat him down, he was coming to find me to teach me some manners... and that after what I did to Kristof, I deserved to die. A life for a life and all of that." She worried her bottom lip. "Then when I saw him today... he wanted to remind me that I had very little family around that wanted me..."

"Goddamn what an asshole," he muttered, though with conviction. "He won't bother you again, Savannah. I should pay him a visit, you know?"

Savannah smiled, kissing his neck. "While part of me would love to have you do that for me, the other part of me doesn't want you to have to deal with the rest of the Nast Cabal over it, too. You can bet after me throwing him into a wall, the Nasts are going to be plenty pissed off at me."

"And you know what I can do, sweetheart," he said low. Johnny was not worried about the Nasts.

"Don't tempt me, love. Do you know how easy it would be for me to ask you... the idea that you could make it where I'm never afraid of them again?"

Johnny looked held her gaze. "All you have to do is say the word."

The idea of never being afraid for her life again was a very tempting one.

However, her Johnny was a hero, not a murderer and she would never, ever make that kind of request from him.

"I know," she said softly, her eyes on his. "I know all I have to do is ask you... but, sweetheart, the only way I will ever be completely safe from them is if I or they are dead. And I would never... never ask you something like that." She gave him a faint smile. "However, if we were to happen to be out somewhere and ran into one of them, I wouldn't be adverse to having you put the fear of Torch into them..."

"So don't ask me," he said, his eyes still on hers. "You don't have to say a word and I still know you want it. And since I won't allow you to be hurt," he shrugged, "the alternative is pretty clear."

Savannah reached out to run her fingers lightly along his cheek as her eyes stayed fixed on his. She didn't know if she could come up with the words right now to tell him how much he meant to her. "I love you so much," she finally whispered.

"I know, babe," he teased with a wink, leaning forward to kiss her.

"I need to go see Sean sometime here soon."

She smiled. "I know he'd appreciate that."

He returned her smile. Johnny needed to talk to Sean, about Bryce. "I think he might."

Unaware of what Johnny was going to talk to her brother about, Savannah smiled and snuggled close to him again.

"Have I mentioned I'm glad you're back?"

"Have I mentioned I'm glad to be back, with you?" he returned, working her close up against him, snuggling warmly.

Savannah made a soft sound of pleasure when the heat from his body touched some of the places she was aching. This was just one of the benefits of having a boyfriend who could heat his entire body up or burst into flames.

"Feels nice," she murmured.

"Mm, it does," he murmured. Hands getting hotter, he began to work them over her back and shoulders carefully.

Oh dear god, that felt good.

"It's not going to be a very nice homecoming for you if you relax me so much that I fall asleep on you," she said softly.

"Actually, it would be perfect," he whispered.

Savannah lay her head against his chest, feeling how relaxed he was getting all of her aches and pains.

"Doesn't seem fair to you."

"I'm holding the most beautiful girl at school. How could that not be fair," he said, smiling.

"You always say the best things. Haven't really slept at all since the island was kidnapped," she murmured, closing her eyes and snuggling close, fighting to stay awake.

Johnny kissed her temple and coaxed her to sleep with the warmth and closeness of his body. He was actually tired too and it wouldn't be long before he dozed off as well.

Savannah managed to stay awake long enough to say "I love you," and then she was in a deep sleep.

"Love you too, babe," he whispered, knowing she was already asleep.
