Room 217, Monday Morning

Savannah did not like the cold. She had never liked the cold... and now was no exception. Waking up to find that the island had taken them to Antartica had not exactly been a fun surprise like the other places had been.

That would be why she was now in the closet of room 217, looking for a jacket that she could put a warming spell on.

Destiny was watching all of this with great interest.

"I am not taking you out to chase penguins," Savannah said from inside her closet.

Johnny came in after a run outdoors. The cold? Did not affect him. At all.

He was surprised to hear Savannah and didn't say anything himself, he just grabbed a water from the mini-fridge and sat down in a chair.

Savannah came out of the closet holding up one of her black jackets and reciting something in Latin. The jacket glowed a bright blue for a moment before fading. "That should help," she muttered. "Stupid cold."

She was putting on the jacket when she noticed Johnny. She managed a small smile. "Hi."

He watched her intently. "Hey. Been outside I take it?"

She nodded. "It was not the most appreciative vacation spot the island could have brought us to."

She couldn't stop her eyes from moving over him. She missed him so much.

"No, I know," he agreed, although he did enjoy the extreme sports to be had from this particular climate.

She smiled again. "If it wasn't so cold and I wasn't afraid I'd break my neck, I would be really tempted to try to learn to ski while we're here."

Johnny loved to ski. To snowboard more precisely. "I... maybe I could teach you."

She gave him a smile that was a little less hesitant. "I... I'd really like that."

He smiled back, tentatively. "All right, we'll plan on it then."

"It'll give us something to do while we're neighbors of penguins..."

No, she probably should not be thinking about how much she wanted to kiss that smile.

He was definitely trying not to think the same thing.

"Yeah..."

"Do you think we'll see polar bears..."

She was having a hard time not thinking about that.

"Maybe. I don't know. You're not afraid, are you?"

She had two choices. She could be honest with him, or she could try to gloss over the question.

It didn't take her long to decide on honesty.

"There are people... sorcerer and other... that want me dead, Johnny. My powers are strong, but if I don't learn them -- master them -- I could die. Here in Fandom, with you around, I'm safe. But when I leave Fandom -- even for a short time -- I become a target again." She swallowed. "I don't like the fact that this is what will happen, but if I want to stay alive, I have to know how to use both sides of my heritage and my power."

She leaned against the desk.

"There are times that I wish this wasn't my life, times where I wish I was simply human or pure witch. But I'm not. Even if what happened with my dad hadn't happened, I would be a target because of who I am. It was bad enough that mom ran away from dad when she found out about me because she was afraid of what his family would do to me."

Johnny knew some of this from her explaining it to him before. He didn't like to think about it and the way his brow wrinkled was sure indication of that.

He knew what Savannah was and knew what she had to do and learn to always be able to protect herself, to take care of herself. It was hard to accept given that she was so much a part of him now.

...or was she?

Things hadn't exactly been good between them, have they?

"I just care about your safety, Savannah... and your state of mind."

She still felt like he was an intricate part of her, but she wasn't sure he wanted to hear that given the way things had been lately. It hurt that she was no longer sure about things between them because that had been one of the things that she was able to measure things by.

And damn it, she missed him a lot more than he probably was aware of.

"I know you do, Johnny. I have never had a doubt about that."

And no matter what tension there was between them -- and damn it would that please go the hell away so she could hug him, talk to him? -- she did know that he cared about her safety and what happened to her.

He nodded, wanting more than anything to reach out to her and take her in his arms.

But he was stubborn and he was still angry over the fact that she had to tell so many people about their argument. It bothered him and he was holding fast to that grudge. Because he's a guy and pigheaded.

"Do you have plans this week... for the fourth?"

She shook her head. "I hadn't made any plans." Well, she had, but that had been before everything that happened with them. Those plans had been fun...

"If there's something you plan on doing, I can come and stay with Destiny so the fireworks and stuff doesn't scare her too badly."

She wondered what Johnny would think if he knew she had lied to Wyatt...

Johnny would very much want to know so he could decide what to think about her lying to Wyatt. Yes. Like now. Ahem.

"I don't have any plans. Not really. If the school does something I'll most likely go to that. You... you can come with me, if you want."

Her eyes lost some of that sad look. "I'd... I'd really like that Johnny." She bit her lip. "Uhm... I need to tell you something."

She shook her head. "Nothing... look, last week Chris took me to see Wyatt at the clinic because he thought I should be checked out and healed. I knew you were angry about me talking to too many people about everything, so I didn't talk to Wyatt about anything." She bit her lip. "Wyatt thinks that all of my injuries were caused by me going after Ares."

He was very quiet for a moment, considering her words.

"Your wrist wounds were self-inflicted, Savannah. You're a witch for crying out loud. I knew that. I knew you could have gotten free without a hassle."

She looked at him for a moment. "If I tell you why I didn't manage to get free immediately, are we going to fight again? Because I really don't think I can take another fight, Johnny." She swallowed. "It... it's hard when you're mad at me."

There. She felt incredibly stupid, but she just admitted out loud how much all of this was bothering her and how she didn't know how to handle it all.


*facepalm* Hades, not Ares. I know my gods, really.
