As promised, Savannah had ordered Chinese food and was settled in for a long night of talking. She had told Johnny she would talk to him and tell him everything.

So, she had changed into a comfortable pair of sweats and a t-shirt, and was sitting cross-legged on the bed.

He came in after having showered after work and changed into a pair of basketball shorts and plain black t-shirt. Smiling at Savannah, he sort of sprawled on his side in front of her, his head propped in his head.

"Tonight? I'm all yours..."

Savannah gave him a wicked smile. "Hmmm... what should I do with you..."

He quirked a dark brow. "My body is a temple... do with me what you will..." he teased.

God, if he kept looking at her like that, the last thing they would be getting done would be talking of any kind. She slid her hand beneath the pillow and brought out an amulet.

"I uhm... I brought this back for you..."

Pushing himself up to a sitting position, Johnny looked at her curiously as he accepted the amulet. Staring down at his palm, he smoothed his hand over the metal. "From Cairo..." he stated. "What's it mean?"

"It's an Eye of Horus... powers of the sun and fire... protection and indestructibility." She swallowed. "Kind of all-seeing..."

She had an Eye of Thoth for herself in the nightstand.

Johnny put it on, humbled by it, and her thought of him. "Thank you, Savannah."

"It reminded me of you when I looked up what it meant... so I kept it in case I ever..." She looked down. "In case you managed to get me home again."

He reached out to hold her hand. "You are home and if you want to talk to me about it all, I'm here. If you don't, I'm cool with that too."

Savannah squeezed his hand and then looked into his face. "No... I need to and I want to... and I promised you..."

[Me, too! :)]

"I want to hear it, I'll admit, but I just don't want you thinking I'm so hard-nosed about it, okay?"

Savannah smiled and nodded. "I know, sweetheart. However, I don't want there to be any secrets or wondering, okay?" She touched his lips with her fingertips. "You're human and you love me... and you know I've been away for..." she swallowed. "Months. It's only natural to want to know what the girl you loved did during that time."

He kissed her fingers when she pressed them to his lips. "I know... I can't help but be curious. It was a long time for you." He shrugged. "No secrets."

"No secrets," she agreed. "So, where should I start?"

"The beginning," he said, giving her a soft smile.

"Okay, that means telling you why I went to the preserve and how all of this happened," she said with a slightly embarrassed look. "I found a spell that I could do in one of my books. It allows me to sense people or energy signatures when I cast it. But, there was a component I needed that I didn't have here -- a plant. I knew I had seen it in the preserve... "

Johnny was quiet, listening as she spoke to him. Although he wanted to know why she asked Wyatt to accompany here instead of him. Yeah, yeah, the whole orbing thing, but Johnny was a torch for crying out loud!

But... he remained passively silent, allowing her to go on...

She started picking at the blanket. "I asked Wyatt to take me because I figured he could just orb me there and back and there would be no attack. I know my temper and was worried that if I asked you to take me that if one of them moved against you I would break my promise to you and attack it..." She swallowed. "We got there and there was a statue waiting for us. We needed that plant so I could try to help find the other lost ones... and he must have had an idea what I was there for. When he rose up over me..." She shuddered a bit, remembering how it had looked at her and those claws and teeth... "I tried to distract it with a new spell I learned so we could get away, but..." She looked at his face. "It was one of the higher, darker spells, and since I had just learned it, I didn't have enough power or energy behind it and I went down all woozy..."

He nodded at that first part, cause yeah, okay, he could understand that better.

"Didn't you think before hand? What could happen, Savannah, if you came in contact with one of those? You were relying on a spell that you recently learned to protect you... what were you thinkin?"

She couldn't look at him.

"I thought we could orb in and out without being caught," she said in a whisper. "I didn't know they it could move so fast." She shook her head. "I wasn't ... I mean ... it scared me and I just wanted to get away. It's an impressive spell ... well, now it is ... and I thought I could confuse it so Wyatt could grab me and get us out of there..." She bit her lip and closed her eyes. "But it moved so damn fast ... so god damned fast ... and the next thing I knew was that Wyatt was checking to make sure I was okay and there were pyramids."

Johnny was frowning. "I'm not going to tell you again what I thought of that, because you already know. So," he said, leaning slightly forward to moved his hand down her calve. "What happened after you saw the pyramids?"

"I know... and have I mentioned how sorry I am?" She sighed. "Well, first, Wyatt tried to orb us home... only it didn't work. We reappeared right where we were." She chewed on her bottom lip. "So, we made our way to civilization... where we met that guy, Rick. He believed us when we told him what had happened... and gave us money to get clothes to fit in and a place to stay."

"I know, sweetheart," he whispered. "Rick must have been some kind of generous guy."

"He said he had seen enough weird things since meeting his wife that he had to believe us -- especially since he had talked to two other people that had the same crazy story about evil statues throwing them back in time." She chewed her lip. "We... uhm... we may have worked with Rick a few times with some of his problems that rose up in the tombs he was watching over."

Johnny cocked his head, staring at her, listening, remaining quiet so she could continue.

Savannah looked at him. "There were monsters..." She said, chewing on her lip again. "Some human... some not quite as human. Demons... evil dead mummy things... and tomb robbers, too."

All right, this had Johnny sitting up fully. "The hell, Savannah?"

"I didn't get hurt..." Much. "... and it's not like I just couldn't do nothing to help the man that helped us when we landed there." She gave him a shaky smile. "And I got much better at my force bolts spell." Yeah... the one that had rendered her helpless to the angels. That one.

He ran his hands down over his face and inhaled deeply. "Okay... okay... go on." He should kill Wyatt for not watching out for her better.

"So, there were the mummies that were awakened by this book that the tomb robbers stole and they -- for some reason -- decided that Wyatt and I looked pretty tasty. So Rick was shooting them and I was using the bolt spell and Wyatt grabbed us and got us out of there when I grabbed the book..."

"God, Savannah..." he murmured, wondering if he really needed to know this.

"Mummies? Alive mummies?"

Savannah nodded. "Yes... alive mummies ... they had wicked evil tempers and just would not die... but the guy controlling them got distracted by me..."

"...distracted by you how?" Johnny was frowning, just a tad.

Savannah shifted a little uncomfortably. "You'll either be tempted to strangle me or laugh," she finally said in a put upon tone.

"I think you should tell me and worry about the consequences after," he said, tilting his head and giving her a look.

"I kind of shredded the shirt I was wearing when I jumped from the overhang..." She mumbled. "I didn't realize it until he was staring at me. So, I used a fireworks spell on him and grabbed the book..."

"You..." he waved a hand over his chest area. "...were shirtless?"

Savannah shook her head. "No! I had a bra on underneath." She sighed. "It's just when I jumped off the overhang and hit the ground in a roll, my shirt got torn and I didn't realize it."

"Uh-huh, so... this Rick guy, he was, uh, kind of fascinated by your... bra?"

Savannah shook her head. "His wife would have stabbed him. No, the bad guy was... but we got the book, I made him pay for staring and when we got away and stopped the mummies, my wounds were taken care of." She looked at him. "I talked to Rick's wife a lot about you, you know. She said that you sounded like the perfect man for a girl who was an adventurer."

Johnny groaned. "Wounds? Shit, Savannah!"

She gave him a confused look. "Mainly cuts and bruises, love, nothing worse than what I get here sometimes." She met his eyes. "I only got badly hurt once... and that was through nothing that could be helped. I knew that I was coming back to you, Johnny, so I knew I had to make it back to you in one piece."

He pinched the bridge of his nose and then reached out for her, he needed to hold her, hug her, feel her. "I'm sorry... this is just the beginning and I'm so god damned sorry."

Savannah curled close to his body, still taking joy in the fact that after nine months trapped in the past, she was here with him again. "The worst part was being away from you, Johnny. It hurt so much, you know... especially since I knew you might never know what had happened to me."

He kissed her cheek, her temple, holding her close and letting her know that he loved her beyond all of that. "I'm so sorry that you had to endure those nine months, sweetheart. If I could undo them for you, I would. You know that, right?"

Savannah nodded. "I know, Johnny. I know. Wyatt and I kept each other going and I knew that somewhere you wouldn't give up until you... until you knew..."

"I wouldn't have either, given up. Not ever. I'm afraid to ask almost," Johnny sort of chuckled. "But what happened after the mummies?"

Savannah blushed a little. "I might have decided to go undercover to make things rough for a couple of bungling kidnappers..."
