It was always a nice time when the extended supernatural family got together for holidays at Stonehaven. There was more than enough food and drink. Presents were piled beneath the tree, there was laughter and bonding with new members of the family. There was the meeting of people all around.

Oh... and the sound of raised voices coming from the library.

Paige, Elena and Eve were in the hallway, and kept glancing at the door to the library as the voices got louder and louder. Johnny was pacing the hall, trying to figure out how to get in there and help his girl out...

...not that she sounded like she needed his help, if the shouting was any indication.

It had all began so well. Savannah and Johnny had arrived safely at Stonehaven and she had introduced Johnny to Jeremy, Clayton and Elena, and to Lucas. They had enjoyed dinner and had been sitting and talking. Of course, if Savannah was aware of the way Clayton was glaring at the way she she stayed close to Johnny or how he kept holding his hand or he had his arm around her, she pretended not to notice.

Of course, like Savannah, Clayton had no concept of tact.

"You had better not be having sex with her."

Savannah had damn near choked on her soda. Eve had been ready to say something, but the whiteness of Savannah's lips and the darkening of her eyes told her not to get involved. "Clayton, that's not only none of your business but it's not a very public type of conversation."

"You're underage and therefore answerable to the family."

Savannah sputtered. "I am answerable to Paige and Lucas and my mother!"

"Who is now a teenager, herself."

Eve frowned. Oh this wasn't going to be going well.

Savannah looked at him. "Clayton, this is not the time and you do not want to start a fight you will lose."

Clayton got to his feet. "Library, now."

Savannah stiffened and then lifted her chin, fire in her eyes.

Paige groaned and ran her hand over her face when she saw that look. That look meant it was going to be angry witchling who confronted the mannerless werewolf.

Savannah leaned down and kissed Johnny before stomping off down the hall, Clayton following her.

Now, Elena kept laughing softly, shaking her head as she listened to the argument. Paige looked aggrieved and Eve... well Eve looked damn proud. Johnny couldn't stand listening to Savannah be upset and reached for the door. A hand reached out and grabbed his arm.

"You really don't want to try that," a voice drawled. "You'll only end up making a new doorway to Jeremy's library."

Johnny turned to see a guy not much older than him. "What would you know about it?"

"Adam Vasic. I'm Paige's best friend, confidant of Savannah and known to be a pain in the ass." He let go of Johnny's arm and looked at the women. "What's going on in there?"

"Clayton and Savannah." Paige said.

Adam winced. "Oh hell. What's got Savvy so upset?"

"Savvy?" Johnny asked, pretty sure he wasn't going to be fond of the answer.

"It's Adam's nickname for Savannah," Paige supplied. "He's called her that since he's known her."

"Yep. I'm the only one she loves enough not to put through a wall for calling her that." Adam said, looking cocky.

"You're the only one that could take the damage she would dole out to anybody else for using that name." Paige shot back.

"I repeat, what has Savvy sounding like she's spitting nails?"

Elena laughed. "Clayton hates Johnny, here."

Adam looked back at Johnny, his eyes narrowing slightly. "So you're the boyfriend," he said quietly. He had heard all about Savannah's boyfriend from Paige and her opinion had colored his. "The one who had better be a completely hands off kind of roommate."

Unfortunately, Johnny didn't take well to someone trying to intimidate him. It hadn't worked from the Halliwells and he would be damned if it was going to work from this guy. "What happens between me and Savannah is our business and no one else's."

"It's damn well my business, Johnny Storm," Adam said in a low voice. "I've looked out for Savannah since we rescued her and I won't allow her to be hurt or taken advantage of." To emphasize his point, Adam lit up one of his hands. "You don't want to play with fire."

In response, Johnny squared his shoulders and lit up both of his hands. "I don't know, Adam, I'm pretty good at handling fire... and Savannah loves it that way."

Adam's hand twitched and that would be when both of them were hit with a spell, knocking them in opposite directions. Eve was standing there, her hands in front of her.

"Knock it off, both of you." She didn't look pleased.

Jeremy ran his hand over his face. "Clayton certainly seems to have taken a serious disliking to Johnny."

"Because he is so much like him," Elena offered with a grin.

"And he's a lot like Adam, too," Paige said with a nod.

"Handsome, funny and brave?"

"A pain in my ass."

"Hey!"

Jeremy shook his head and looked back at Jeremy. "There will still be separate rooms while you are here. "

Johnny would have commented, but the raised voices were coming from the library again.

"You do not get to make that decision for me!"

"The hell I don't! You have been part of this family since we rescued you from that laboratory when you were twelve and therefore my responsibility!" Clayton roared.

"You arrogant bastard! I am not a little girl and you are not my dad! I can take care of myself!"

"You're a child!"

"I'm sixteen! Not twelve!"

"Still too young to have a boyfriend!"

"And you waited to get involved with anyone until you were eightteen?!"

"You are not me!"

"Thank god for that!"

"You will stop seeing him!"

"You will be in high heels and pink sequins before I do any such thing!"

It was going to be a long night.

...and that was it.

Enraged that Savannah was having to deal with this shit, Johnny looked at the others before he stormed off towards the library, flinging open the door and glaring at Clayton. "That is enough! Leave her the hell alone!"

And Eve was right the hell behind Johnny, perilously close to unleashing a spell that might very well kill whoever it hit. Dark magic plus a pissed off witch were not good things.

Savannah was standing on a chair so she could be as tall as Clayton and yelling in his face. When she heard the door, she turned to look at Johnny and Eve in surprise.

"And that is why he is worth more to me than almost anything." Savannah said, balancing carefully on the chair. "Who else would come into a room with a raging witch and a pissed off werewolf?"

She looked at Clayton. "If you don't accept him as my mate, then you don't accept me, either."

"Savannah," Johnny said low, his look intense. "Come here, sweetheart." Yeah, he didn't like being in the same room with a pissed off werewolf either.

"And if you don't accept her, then the three of us are leaving and never coming back," Eve said, her voice that scary kind of mellow where you just know it's hiding something. "Savannah is my daughter. Mine. I may be dead and I may be a teenager again, but I am still the one who raised her. And if I have no problems with her dating Johnny or sharing a room with Johnny or the two of them having however much sex they damn well please provided they take precautions, then you, Clayton Danvers, can back the fuck off!"

Eve, however, had no such compunctions about the whole being in the room with the pissed off werewolf thing.

Savannah got off the chair and made her way to Johnny. Clayton growled and stepped forward, but two things made him stop.

First, Savannah was between him and the boy, and he would never hut Savannah. Second, Jeremy and Elena had come into the room.

He looked at Eve. "If he harms her I will make him wish he had never been born."

Savannah was tired all of this. "You threaten him again and you'll be the one torn apart, Clayton. He's mine," she warned in a dangerous voice. "He will not be attacked."

The headache she had was killing her.

"This is bullshit," Johnny practically snarled at Clayton. "What she does with me is none of your damned business. Threaten me and I'll make you wish you hadn't."

Johnny reached out to take Savannah's hand though his eyes were dark and angry, holding to Clayton. "Back the fuck off, man."

Date: 2007-12-29 04:33 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] blackmagic-eve.livejournal.com
"Clayton, let's get one thing straight," Eve said, hands relaxed at her sides just in case. "If anybody's going to threaten Johnny, it'll be Savannah. If anybody besides her is going to threaten him? It's going to be me. I've given him those threats before. More than once. He knows what will happen to him if he doesn't treat her well, 'cause you know what? With me it isn't a threat." She smiled dangerously. "It's a flat-out promise."

She moved slowly, managing to get in front of Savannah and Johnny and put up a shield spell around them. "You will not threaten my family," she snarled, not even realizing that she'd just included Johnny as family.

Savannah took Johnny's hand and moved close to him, leaning against him. Lord, but she was tired.

"I get that you want me safe, Clay, but Johnny is not the one you should be worried about." She had caught what Eve said and smiled tiredly.

"That will be quite enough," Jeremy's low voice echoed through the room. "Eve, you and Johnny are just as welcome here as Savannah has always been. Stonehaven is a refuge and anyone that Savannah cares about this much is welcome here." His eyes were clearly telling Clayton to stand down.

Johnny got what Eve said too and he would have smiled gratefully if the situation were any different. As it was, he was hot and he knew Savannah had to feel it just in the touch of his hand.

He took a calming breath but was in no way going to let down his guard until he knew Clayton was going to do the same, and even then it would be tough. Johnny probably wouldn't sleep through the night.

At Jeremy's words, Johnny glanced over and gave the man a barely perceptible nod of his head before he looked back at Clayton. There might have been a tiny spark of a challenge in Johnny's eyes, but that was clearly from the cockiness that lied within.

He ran his thumb over Savannah's hand...

"Tell your psychotic, overgrown puppy to back off, then," Eve said, her attention mostly focused on keeping the spell up. And really, given that she'd called Clayton a psychotic, overgrown puppy several times already in the short time before it'd all blown up in their faces? She was as good as backed down. Well, as much as they'd get out of her until Clayton calmed the fuck down.

Savannah swallowed, her throat sore from yelling. She pressed against Johnny and wrapped his arm around her.

"Clayton..." Jeremy's voice dropped to a lower tone.

"I'm going for a run. I need to..."

"I'll go with him," Elena said quietly.

Savannah watched them go and lowered her head. "I'm sorry."

Date: 2007-12-29 05:12 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
"You don't need to be sorry," he said after they left. Tilting her face up with his fingers to her chin, he made her look at him. "You don't need to be sorry for anything. You're beautiful and I'm damn proud of you." Johnny held her to him, close, his arm tightening around her protectively.

Eve was standing there, breathing heavily, her eyes still full of anger as she let the shield spell down. "I need a drink," she muttered. "A big one."

Date: 2007-12-29 08:24 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah leaned into Johnny, needing the reassurance of his presence right now. That and him touching her always helped calm her down. She leaned her head against his chest.

"I'm thinking that's probably not going to happen, mom," Savannah said quietly.

Jeremy was watching all of this quietly, paying close attention to how Savannah reacted to Johnny. In the time she had been around them, he couldn't quite recall her ever seeking comfort from anyone outside of the family. He was also impressed by how he seemed to be able to take away some of her emotional upheaval.

Date: 2007-12-29 09:16 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
His hand ran up and down Savannah's back while his eyes held to Jeremy's. Then he looked back to Clayton. "I'm going to see her to her room now, if there aren't any objections." Not that he fucking cared. He would do as he wished. He could tell Savannah was wore out, that possibly she wasn't feeling all that well from the stress of dealing with this.

"Come on, sweetheart... let's go..." Johnny glanced at Eve and in his expression was his gratitude that she was there. He too, could use a drink, but right now his first priority was Savannah.

Eve was worn out as well, though she managed to hide it somewhat. "So, who's up for a nap and then drinking themselves senseless?" she said, only partly joking. "And before you say it, Jeremy, I'm kidding."

No she wasn't.

Savannah was grateful for that because she really didn't want to be around the rest of the family right now. She leaned close to Johnny as they walked from the library. She smiled wanly at Jeremy, but was not in any mood to try to talk right now.

Jeremy nodded at Eve and Johnny before turning to go after Clayton to talk to him.

Savannah sighed, but didn't say anything to the rest of the family that were gathered. She wanted to go back to the school, but for right now she'd be content to go to her room.
