walks_two_paths: (Upset Hands Through Hair)
After the events of the night, Savannah wasn't exactly feeling very much like herself. In fact, she was completely emotionally and physically drained. Too much had happened in the last 48 hours and she wasn't sure how much it was all going to change things for her.

After talking with Eve and making sure she was settled -- and reassuring herself that she was alive, really -- Savannah headed back down to her and Johnny's room.

She stood outside the door for a long time, before she finally found the courage to open the door and walk in. She was unsure of how happy he was going to be to see her now that he knew everything.

She shut the door and then leaned up against it.

"Hey," she said softly.

[[OOC: For Johnny.]]

Johnny was sitting on the edge of the bed, head lowered, hands clasped. He heard her enter and lifted his head at her quiet hey.

"Hey," he returned, his eyes focused on her.

"I'm guessing that saying I'm sorry that I got you attacked by demons I accidentally summoned isn't quite going to cut it, is it?"

He reached up and ran his hand back through his hair. "Savannah," he said. "If you weren't involved I could honestly tell you I enjoyed kicking ass. It's kind of what I do." Well, what he liked to do. "But you know, you could have told me... before all this went down."

Savannah felt like crying.

"I wasn't sure how to bring it up, Johnny. How was I supposed to tell the guy I love about being kidnapped so they could hunt my mother -- and try to shape me into their little weapon?"

She looked down at the floor. "How could I tell you that I was the one that killed my father?"

Date: 2007-11-11 04:11 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
"Just like that," he said low. "I'm not one to judge Savannah, and loving you, well, it's kind of done something to me, you know? You're more important to me than I ever thought I would feel for someone." He sighed. "I'm trying to understand why you wouldn't talk to me..."

"I was scared, Johnny," she said quietly. "You're a hero. You fight the bad guys and those who hurt people. I love you and I didn't know how to tell you that you're girlfriend was a little darker ... a little less of a good person ... than you knew."

She swallowed convulsively.

"I was twelve when Project Gemini's people broke into our home and kidnapped mom and I. They wanted to collect a specimen of every supernatural being on the planet. Mom was half-demon. I was ... am... half-witch and half-sorcerer. I wasn't supposed to be there that day. Mom let me stay home from school and they used me against her. A few days later, they killed her because she was trying to get us both out of there."

"You could have tried," he said solemnly. "I might be a hero where I come from, but here, this place is so diverse. How could I sit and judge anyone?" He has, but that's really beside the point right now.

That and he was proud of the fact that Wyatt and Chris had been there to help as well. Made him think rather highly of the brothers.

"You can possibly think that a twelve year old girl can be held responsible for any of that, do you?"

Savannah slumped against the door.

"I met Leah -- the redhead -- after that. I thought she was my friend. I was alone and she and Xavier -- one of the guards -- befriended me. My power at that time... I didn't have as much control and when Project Gemini kidnapped another witch and a werewolf, it was easy for them to convince everyone that I later accidentally killed that new witch. That witch was Ruth, Paige's mother. It wasn't until Paige and some friends led a raid on the compound that I discovered that Leah had set me up." She shook her head. "Levines don't just study white magic. We do what we need to do to be safe because... well being a witch where I come from is a little dangerous because the sorcerer cabals hate witches and want us dead. So, how easy was it for them to believe that the child witchling sorcerer of a half-demon had killed another witch?"

She looked at Johnny. "Paige adopted me and a year later... Leah showed back up in our lives. She arranged my second kidnapping."

Johnny's brow was furrowed as he listened to her, not saying anything other than giving her a slight nod of his head, understanding as she continued.

So his girlfriend had a past, an unpleasant past. People did what they did to survive. That she could have seriously been hurt last night weighed greatly on him though and he needed to know that this was done and overwith. He had to know.

"...and the second kidnapping?"

Savannah moved from the door to her desk chair and sat down.

"Leah arranged for me to be taken to my father -- Kristof Nast. He was the heir to the Nast Cabal and he wanted me... wanted to get to know me. He promised me that Paige would be kept safe. But Leah, she had other plans and she helped another cabal to try to kill Paige. She showed me what I thought was Paige's body and I lost it. Completely."

She drew a hand through her hair, grimacing at the feel of the dried blood in it. "I tried to bring my mom back from the dead to help me. I needed her, needed not to be alone. My dad tried to stop me, but I didn't see or hear him and... I..." She choked on a sob and looked up to him. "I killed him... threw him into a concrete wall..."

"Ah, god," he murmured and got up and moved towards her, crouching before the chair she was sitting in and laid his hand on her knee. "Sweetheart, I'm sorry. Jesus... had I known... I would have stopped you from leaving this room yesterday. Shit, I could have prevented everything last night if I just made you stay in this room..."

Date: 2007-11-11 05:30 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She shook her head. "Leah had already made herself known to be here last... Friday night... after I got off work. She was the reason I went to see Eve. Then, when I came to get my book ... I already had seen what I thought was Eve dying again. Leah tried to kill her when I wouldn't agree to leave with her... and Leah was supposed to be dead, Johnny. Paige killed her."

Date: 2007-11-11 05:39 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
He cocked his head. "But you didn't tell me, when I asked you just said you went to see Eve. How come you couldn't have trusted me with that info, Savannah?"

Date: 2007-11-11 05:48 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
"Because I was afraid of what Leah would do, Johnny. She was a half-demon determined to take me away... again. She ripped my entire world apart before and she was here to do it again. All I could think about was that she was here to destroy everything that mattered to me. It wasn't that I didn't trust you, nothing like that." She looked at him. "I told you before that this was the first time in a long time my life had ever seemed normal -- and how much I love you. For a little bit, Leah made me feel like that same thirteen year old girl again."

Johnny ran his hand up and down her leg, comforting her. He was so sorry any of this had to happen, and he was sorry that she had to be hurt. He was just wanting it all over with. "She's gone. Everything is going to be okay from here on out, right Savannah? Nothing else can come back to haunt you, to mess with you -- I need this reassurance because I can't stand you being hurt. Last night, I swear I felt a rage I hope I never feel again anytime soon."

Date: 2007-11-12 12:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Something broke inside her a little bit, because she couldn't be honest with him... and give him that complete reassurance that he needed.

"Johnny... I can be completely honest with you and tell you the rest of it and let you know what could happen and what I am." She met his eyes and hers were full of tears. "Or... I can lie to you and reassure you that I will never again be threatened and hide everything from you."

She swallowed.

"What would you prefer?"

He took her hands in his and came up on his knees so that he was almost eye-level with her. "I want the truth, no matter what. No lies, no secrets. It's not what relationships are made of Savannah."

Date: 2007-11-12 12:51 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
Savannah was visibly relieved. "I don't want to keep secrets from you Johnny... not ever again." She looked into his face. "Can we go over to the bed... and you hold me while I tell you the rest of it? Because I was afraid Leah was going to beat me and take me away, and that I'd never be able to feel you holding me again."

She bit her lip.

"I really need that right now."

"Come on," he said softly and stood. Taking her hands, he helped her to her feet and together they moved towards the bed where they laid down, and Johnny pulled her up against him when he laid on his back, gently cradling her head to his chest.

Savannah felt a lot of the tension drain out of her when Johnny pulled her close to him like this and she blinked back tears. She had meant it when she said she had been afraid she would never be held by him again. She loved him so much and the last two days had been scary.

"My father, Kristof Nast, was the heir to the Nast cabal. Cabals are like the mafia, only with supernatural abilities. Being half witch, I'm already an enemy of the sorcerers -- well, most of them. When I killed Kristof, I became the number one enemy of the Nast cabal." Savannah's voice was a stumbling whisper. "Kristof's father, my grandfather, and all of his relations would like nothing more than to have me brought to them and killed for what I did -- even though it was an accident. The only Nast that doesn't want me hurt is Sean."

Date: 2007-11-12 02:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com
"Shh, please don't cry anymore. You're here with me and you're safe. I swear on my life I won't anyone or anything hurt you ever again."

Johnny moved his hand up and down her back, holding her close. "Can Sean keep you informed of what his family is doing? In other words, would he sell them out to help protect you?"

Date: 2007-11-12 07:55 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
"Sean and the rest of the family are mot on the best of terms, but yeah, he'd pick me over them to keep me safe. If he had known that a version of Leah was here and trying to take me away... he would have been right there."
