Room 217, Thursday Evening

Savannah had taken it pretty easy today since she didn't have classes. Luck had arranged it where all four of her classes were on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and that left her Thursdays and Fridays pretty free.

She had decided that she was going to like all four of her classes (and she might be the only witch or sorceror that would write spells in Japanese).

She had taken a walk to visit Sean at his store, and she was now laying across her bed. She had music playing and she was in a pretty good mood.

She wouldn't mind company.

"Have a seat. Sorry, I haven't checked my messages yet." She smiled slightly. "There's a few things I wanted to talk to you about if you have time?"

"Yeah, definitely." Ronan smiled back, softly. "Is everything all right? Any problems with your powers? I know we talked about me helping you..."

"My needing help with my powers is one of the things I would like to talk about. Are you still up for helping me?" She bit her lip. "I... I wasn't sure if it would be too awkward or anything." She smiled. "I like you, Ronan and I think you're a pretty cool guy. I'd appreciate your help... and to become good friends?"

Ronan shrugged a bit. "... I took Johnny for granted. You didn't. I'm not mad at you." His smiled widened a little. "I'll definitely help. And... yeah, I can see us being friends."

That was definitely relief on her face. "I'm glad you're not mad. I never would have wanted to do anything to hurt you."

She let out a breath. "When would be a good time for you to start?"

"Well, I've got all three of my workshops tomorrow... so that's not really a good day." He paused to consider. "Maybe Sunday?"

She thought about this and nodded. "Sunday works for me. I have no plans... well, besides this, now."

"Good. The beach, then, around noon?"

Savannah nodded. "That sounds great. I'll be there."

"Great!" Ronan smiled, then hesitated. "Was there something else you wanted to talk about? You said 'one' of the things..."

She met his eyes. "The other was Johnny, but you already said you weren't upset with me. I wanted to make sure... because I don't like hurting my friends."

"Ah, okay..." Ronan shrugged. "Yeah, I can't say that I don't wish things had ended up differently, but..." And another shrug. "It's as much my fault as his, and it isn't yours at all."

Savannah was relieved that he felt that way.

"I won't do anything to hurt him, Ronan," she assured him. "I love him."

A pang went through Ronan when she said that, a brief thought that said, That could be me saying that, saying it openly. But it's not like he lacked for companionship, and, hey, things were complicated enough without bringing Johnny back into the equation. So he repressed, and hoped desperately that Savannah wasn't telepathic along with her other powers.

"That's good," he said, instead of everything else, instead of punching her in the face of sudden, irrational anger. He'd just said that he was okay with everything, and before she'd said that he really had been, but she wouldn't have said it like that, not openly, if she hadn't heard it, too -- no one would be that open if they weren't confident about it -- and maybe that's what did it; maybe that's what told Ronan that he had definitely lost Johnny once and for all, that there wasn't any hope left.

"That's good," he repeated, and smiled softly. "He deserves someone special." And he ignored the little voice that said she wasn't special enough, because he knew it wasn't true.

It was probably a good thing that Savannah was not telepathic.

She gave him a soft smile. "Thank you. I'm not sure how special I am, but he thinks I am and he means a lot to me, so I'm determined to do my best to make him happy."

Ronan nodded. "Sunday, then?" he reiterated. "At noon, on the beach."

Savannah nodded. "It's a plan, definitely."

"Great, I'll see you then." And, still covering, still repressing, Ronan smiled, turned, and left.

Savannah watched him leave and then laid back down on the bed.
