"Let's get married."

Eve stared at the man at her door as if he had lost his mind. In this instance, she was pretty sure he had. "Johnny, don't make me kill you. I'm pretty sure that would upset my daughter and that's the last thing I want to do."

"What? No! Eve, wait." He came into the house and leaned against the wall. "I'm not proposing to you. I need your help."

She shook her head and closed the door. "That's not all you need." She looked at him. "Do you have any idea what time it is?"

"A little after ten?" He hazarded a guess... even though he knew it really was much later.

"Johnny Storm, it is two o'clock in the morning! What in the hell are you doing knocking on the door this late without bleeding to death? Because if you wake up Kristof and Gwen, that is the only thing that would save you an ass-kicking."

"Savannah gets back from her Europe trip next week."

Eve nodded. "I'm aware of that," she said, leading him into the kitchen. "You still haven't explained to me why you're at our door and why you proposed to me."

"I wasn't proposing to you. I was practicing!"

Eve grinned. She had made Johnny flail without even trying. This was going to be a fun conversation.

"Practicing getting yourself killed by a witch?"

"You would never kill me, I'm too hot." At Eve's look, he managed a faint smile. "You would never kill me because I am head over heels in love with your daughter?"

"That's better." She started making coffee, gesturing for Johnny to continue talking.

"Okay, look, Savannah and I have been together off and on since high school."

"Ten years if you don't count the time after graduation where you were a moron, the time Savannah tried to protect you by breaking up with you and running away, the time you flirted with that blonde bimbo of a news reporter, the time Savannah and Adam were pretending to be a couple to go undercover and didn't tell you and you assumed that they were..."

Johnny groaned. "How do you remember all of this?"

"Not to mention the time with that army girl, Frankie..."

"Hey, come on! She put the moves on me, not the other way around. I told her I had a girlfriend!"

"But not that said girlfriend had powers and would use them on her if she didn't put her shirt back on and leave the apartment. Lucas was just thrilled with those charges against Savannah, let me tell you." She tilted her head. "Or how about the time that you and Savannah got into a fight at the Eiffel Tower and..."

"Okay, we've established that Savannah and I have had our moments--" He didn't want to get into what had happened at the Eiffel Tower with Eve. Although, later that night, he and Savannah had made up in a totally awesome way when she came back to their hotel...

"--and let's not forget about Savannah doing a tour for school and when you saw pictures of her posing with her tour guide --"

"Eve! Come on! That tour guide's eyes were too close together and you just knew he was trying to play her." Johnny's voice was more than a little petulant.

Eve laughed at him. "You think every guy who checks her out is going to try to make a play for her. Savannah doesn't want any other guy, dumb ass. She's happy with you."

"And I love her."

"That's good, because it means I don't have to kill you and call the Pack to help me dispose of your body." She was joking, really. Maybe.

Johnny dropped into a chair as he looked at her. "I want to marry her, Eve."

Eve was silent as she looked at him for a long moment. "Are you sure about that, Johnny? Are you sure you're ready to take that kind of step? I mean, you are quite the ladies man on camera."

"That's on camera. Savannah knows it doesn't mean anything."

"Yeah, she does, but she might not see it the same way if you guys get married." She spread her hands out. "Just like you might not view the guys that come to her shows the same way."

Johnny gave her a serious look. "I don't know about all of that, Eve. What I do know is that I love your daughter and I want to marry her. I want to be with her the rest of my life." He let out a breath. "I won't lie, feeling this way... this serious, and thinking about the future is a little scary and overwhelming. On the other hand, a future without Savannah in my life seems even worse. Ten years of ups and downs is plenty of time for me to know how much she means to me."

Eve was quiet for a long moment. Then she nodded. "I believe you. If I didn't believe you were sincere, you would have already gotten your ass thrown out of here."

"So, you'll help me?"

"You don't need my help, Johnny. Just tell her how you feel." Eve smiled. "She doesn't need a big show. To her, you're Johnny Storm, the guy she fell in love with her sophomore year of high school. You're not the Fantastic Human Torch in her eyes. You're you and she doesn't need you to propose to her in some dramatic fashion."

"Oh! I could greet her at the door when she comes in with nothing but a ring and flowers. She loves my body."

Eve groaned. "Don't make me kill you."
