walks_two_paths: (Studying The Grimoires)
With everything that was going on, Savannah had slipped down to the beach to grab a few moments of quiet time. She loved her family and friends, but right now, there was a lot on her mind and she needed some alone time. So, after leaving a message for Johnny about where she had gone, Savannah made her way down to the beack with her sketchpad.

Finding a spot on the sand she liked, she put her blanket down and sat to sketch the water and the sky over it. Down time was a good thing right now and as she worked on her sketch, she felt some of the tension of the last few days ease away.

She was leaving in a few days, but for now, she was going to enjoy the peace and quiet for a few minutes.

[[OOC: For one.]]

After everything that'd happened at brunch, Josef had spent most of the day in his suite working. What? Fandom wasn't exactly a place he wanted to spend time socializing in. And the suite, while not as large as what he was used to, was really quite acceptable and he was going to make as much use as he could of the one decent thing in this place.

But for now he was taking a break, wandering to the beach. It wasn't for the relaxation, though, it was to find a certain misfit.

Looking deceptively mellow in jeans and a dress shirt, Josef made his way over to Savannah.

Hearing footsteps coming towards her, Savannah assumed that it was one of her friends or Johnny, so she wasn't worried about it. After all, she was in Fandom and therefore completely safe from any outside dangers.

"If that's you, sweetheart, come and have a seat. I promise, I'll be done in just a few minutes."

"I'll take a pass," Josef said dryly. "Hello, Savannah."

Date: 2010-05-03 12:05 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
That would be Savannah getting swiftly to her feet.

"Josef," she nodded. "I wasn't expecting you to come here."

"Taking a break?" he asked, doing a passable attempt at pleasant. "I can imagine it's been overwhelming the past couple days, what with your graduation and all."

Somehow he managed to pack quite a bit of disdain into the word "graduation."

Yeah, she picked up on it.

She closed her book and managed to shrug. "It hasn't been anything that I couldn't handle. I'm surprised you stayed, though. Isn't there someone's life back home that you're missing out on an attempt to ruin?"

"Had one last thing to do here first," Josef replied with a shrug.

Savannah was wary, but it didn't occur to her that he wanted to do anything with her but scare her and upset her.

"Leave Sean alone. He's happy here and he has a good life."

"He's got a life that'll keep him happy enough until the Cabal needs him," Josef said by way of correction. "But that's not what I'm here for."

Savannah silently starting reciting the Latin for the Barrier Spell in her brain. If he tried anything, she was sure that she could hold the barrier against him long enough to scream very loudly and shrilly and get people to come running.

Like Benecio. Or Hope. Or Troy. Or Johnny. Or hell, Professor Skywalker and Principal Zoe would be awesome.

"Then what are you still here for, Josef." Josef. Not Mr. Nast and not even going to attempt Uncle Josef. She was pretty sure that being that recalcitrant would get him pretty pissed off.

"You," Josef said, pulling his checkbook from his back pocket in one smooth gesture.

"What will it take to get you to leave the Nast Cabal alone?"

Date: 2010-05-03 01:49 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She stepped back. "Excuse me?"

Date: 2010-05-03 01:51 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
"Name your price," Josef said. "I'm willing to pay whatever you want."

Date: 2010-05-03 01:54 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She just stared for a moment and the laugh the escaped her was humorless.

"You're really bad at trying to set me up for something."

Date: 2010-05-03 02:01 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
"If I was trying to set you up for something, you would be dead before you had the chance to realize it," Josef said simply, with a quiet, menacing calm to the words. "I mean what I say. I am willing -- and have the authorization -- to pay you whatever sum you so wish."

Date: 2010-05-03 02:03 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
If she hadn't been afraid of him before, that quiet menace would have been enough to cause her fear.

"You kill me and my grandfather would tear you to pieces."

Date: 2010-05-03 02:29 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
"But you'd be dead, and really, that's what the important thing would be."

He clicked the pen impatiently.

Date: 2010-05-03 02:35 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She shuddered at that response.

"So you're telling me that I can name any amount and you'll write me a check... to get me to for what exactly?"

Date: 2010-05-03 04:08 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
"In exchange, you will never contact the Nast Cabal again. You will make no attempts, now or in the future, to claim a position by virtue of being Kristof's daughter."

Date: 2010-05-03 10:05 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
"I don't want a position in your Cabal--" She made it sound like a juvenile club when she said that. "I've never made any attempt to do anything like that."

Date: 2010-05-04 04:50 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] othernasts.livejournal.com
Josef just sneered.

"In the family, Savannah. Not as an employee. You take this and as far as we're concerned, Kristof's daughter dropped off the face of the planet."

Date: 2010-05-04 10:04 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] walks-two-paths.livejournal.com
She stared at him and then shook her head. "I've been known to be a lot of things, but I'm not dumb. So you're trying to tell me that you'll pay me to do exactly what you guys already act like I've done anyway?"

She shook her head again. "Yeah, so I name some exorbitant price like 500,000 or 600,000 and you just give it to me? Bullshit. I am not naive!"
