"You're doing what?"

Savannah sighed as she turned to look at her fiance. "You heard me, Johnny. Paige and Lucas need my help."

"Let them find someone else to do it."

"Johnny, they can't. Their faces are too well known and mine isn't. I can go undercover without any problems to get the information that we need."

"They need, not you. You don't need it for anything." Johnny's face was tight. "I don't know why you still work for them when you don't need the money, Savannah. Between me and your trust fund, you don't havr to work and cvan focus on your art and other things."

"Other things being you?" She shook her head, reaching out to take his hand. "Johnny, we've been through all of this so many times before. I love that you want to take care of me, but I enjoy working and earning my own way. I like helping the supernatural community as a member of the Council and I don't want to touch my trust fund unless I absolutely need to." She ran a hand through his hair. "Besides, when we finally do pick a wedding day, I don't want anyone to say I'm only marrying you for your money."

"Let them say what the hell they want, I don't care. What's the point of having all of this if I can't pamper and spoil the woman that I love?" He pulled her close. "I don't like you doing risky and dangerous stuff like this, Savannah."

"I'm not exactly fond of you putting yourself in danger, either, Johnny."

"It's what I do. I'm a super hero."

She pulled back far enough so that she could tilt her head and look up at him. "And what about me, Johnny? What am I?"

Nothing Good Ever Happens From A Fire And Dynamite Fight )

Even after she was on the jet and headed to Oregon, Savannah couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that something was very wrong.

Savannah hadn't returned to the Lighthouse after it was deemed safe for all of the refugees to leave the safety of Special Collections. There was the whole thing where she wanted to give Sean and Annja some privacy for their reunion. She'd hated seeing her brother looking so haunted and numb after he lost his wife, and she had been powerless to help him. The least she could do is give them some privacy.

She could see people all around her running about and being happy that they were alive again or excited because they had found out that people they loved were coming back into existence.

It was just like she had told Isabel, the people on the island were always brought back because those were the rules. By her logic, anyway.

God, she was exhausted, mentally and physically.

She wandered down to the beach to climb up onto one of the rocks. She needed some time to get her emotions back under control before she could go anywhere. She wasn't going to ask Wyatt to orb her to New York, because if everything she loved was still gone, she didn't know how she was going to be able to deal with it. Besides, Isabel and Wyatt had loved ones that they needed to check on, as well.

When she heard her phone ringing in her bag, she was almost afraid to answer it.

Savannah couldn't sleep. She hadn't slept much during the night and then after hearing the announcements/radio broadcast, she knew that wasn't going to change. After leaving a note to let Angela know where she had gone, she picked up one of her bags and wandered slightly away from the main area and away from her tent to find a quiet toadstool to hide beneath.

With everything that had happened in the last forty-eight hours, it wouldn't be so surprising except that she needed the rest. She had been running on adrenaline all day and had expended more of her energy than she should have by doing too much magic without enough rest or food. She knew better, but in retrospect, she knew that she wouldn't have made any other choice. She was a witch and a sorcerer, with a bit of demon blood thrown in. She had the power and with that power, she took a responsibility upon herself.

Yesterday had not been a good day. She had looked around at the people who had survived and she wanted to rage and cry because there should have been so many more in here.

So Not A Good Few Days )

Swallowing hard, she turned to a fresh sheet and started to sketch a portrait of Wyatt. It gave her something to try to focus on and for right now, it kept her from giving in to the desire to curl up and just cry for a good long time.

Savannah was frowning into the phone as she paced the living room of the penthouse she and Johnny shared.

"Adam, are you sure? Well why didn't Paige call me and tell me herself?" She sighed, rubbing the center of her forehead. "Doesn't Benicio realize yet that doing something like that is just guaranteed to make both Lucas and Paige balk at him?"

She paced some more, listening to the other end of the conversation. "No, you're right. But I need to know about these things -- if only to keep the family from getting into another one of those fights where they decide not to talk to each other for months." Savannah narrowed her eyes. "Keep that up and you're not invited to my wedding and I'll get Wyatt to walk me down the aisle. No, we haven't set a date yet."

She went to the fridge to get some orange juice. "Well, if Benecio doesn't stop upsetting Paige, he can sit in a corner at the wedding." She sighed. "What? No, I'll come. If someone had told me about the murders in the first place, I might have been able to do something before the Nasts had to get involved -- and I don't care why they're involved. Thomas and Josef Nast plus Benicio and the other Cortezes can only mean trouble. No, we are not telling Sean and Annja about this. They just celebrated their one year anniversary. I can at least buy my big brother some time before he has to deal with his relatives again." She shut the fridge with more force than she had planned.

"Yes, I'm pissed at you. You're supposed to be my best friend and let me know when things happen that might upset my family, Adam. No, you're supposed to call me before the last minute and I know you only do this because you like poking at Johnny and annoying him." Savannah sighed, pulling at her hair. "No. I'll get packed and get the first flight to Oregon that I can. I'll let you know when I make arrangements. And Adam, this time, be there to pick me up at the airport. No, because I am not calling Wyatt and Chris each time I need to get across the country to solve a family squabble. They're my family, not my taxi service. Yeah, me too, even if you are a pain in my ass." Savannah gasped and narrowed her eyes again. "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" She shook her head and hung up her cell phone.

Now the really hard part. She went into the bedroom and sunk down on Johnny's side of the bed. "Sweetheart? Sweetheart wake up, I need to talk to you."

Savannah was hanging out with Johnny and his family after she got back from her classes for the day. She was having a hard time concentrating on the conversation that Sue and Reed were having. What was it about Johnny that was especially sexy tonight? Was it the way he was sitting? Had he been working out a lot more lately? Whatever it was, it was making it hard for her not to pay attention to him and ---

"Savannah?"

Savannah jerked her head up to look at Reed. "I'm sorry?"

Reed laughed and Sue shook her head. "He's just teasing, Savannah. I was just asking what you might want to do tonight? We're trying to decide if we're going out to dinner. So what would you like to do?"

"I'd really like to do your brother on the top of the Empire State Building."

Even for Savannah, that was oversharing just a bit.

Savannah was amused by the fact that the man across the desk kept giving her sideways glances as if he expected her to turn into some sort of a monster and attack him in his office. It was those looks that made her kind of glad she had asked Johnny to wait in the lobby downstairs. She was pretty sure that the looks she was getting would earn the man a fireball -- or four.

The man swallowed and slid one more stack of papers across the desk.

'And if you'll just sign these last ones, Ms. Levine, I believe everything will be in order.' )

Savannah let the threat hang in the air between them and then she turned to go. She walked to the elevator and when she stepped in, she didn't feel or see anything follow her in. She continued to hold herself stiff the entire elevator ride and then when she exited, she saw that Johnny was pacing the lobby. She slid her arm through his and smiled up at him.

"I'm all done here, love. We can go now."

Savannah, well let's be honest, after seeing Kristof in the woods Thursday night, she had been hiding in her and Johnny's hotel ever since. She had thought that was a good plan seeing as how she and Kristof didn't originally part on very good terms.

The thing is that sometimes Savannah's good plans? They don't work out so well.

Because she received a call from Kristof this morning telling her that he wanted to see her and talk to this so-called fiance of hers.

Alone. He wanted only her and Johnny present and Sean and Eve were not invited for her to hide behind.

Savannah had cleaned and cleaned and cleaned -- growling at the hotel staff that tried to enter. (She'd apologize to Mary later.) Now, Savannah was nervously pacing up and down the main room of the suite while Johnny watched her.

[[OOC: For two.]]
walks_two_paths: (Head On Her Hand)
It was no secret that Savannah had nightmares sometimes. Maybe more than sometimes. However, this time, the dream felt a lot more real than she was used to. She moved restlessly on the bed next to Johnny as she dreamed. She was murmuring in her sleep, but someone would have to be awake and paying attention to know what she was saying.

'Tell this guy to let me go. Put me down. Now!' )

Savannah shifted in her sleep, unconsciously rolling away from the warmth of Johnny's body as she kept dreaming.

'He's sleeping," Savannah said. "Weird. He must live around here, huh? Guess we should find someplace else—' )

Savannah jerked herself from the bed with a harsh cry. It took her a few moments to realize that she was in her and Johnny's bed and the dream was just that. A dream. A dream of things that had happened a long time ago. She wasn't back there in that place. She wasn't being an unwilling accomplice in the murder of a young boy just to do a protection spell.

Savannah could feel the tears on her cheeks as she quietly got out of the bed, leaving Johnny asleep. She was suddenly cold and she quickly got dressed before going out into the living room and then into the kitchen. She wasn't much of a drinker, but Johnny always had alcohol in the house so she spent a few moments staring at labels before she grabbed one of the brown liquids and poured a lot of it into a glass. (That is not how you drink bourbon, Savannah.)

She took the glass of liquor and settled onto the couch. She couldn't go back to bed right now, and she didn't want to chance waking Johnny up. She was holding the glass and finally took a long drink...

...that she ended up sputtering and choking on. "Jesus Fuck." That was a good reaction to the burning sensation in her throat and stomach from the alcohol.

Shaking her head, she closed her eyes and concentrated on her breathing. Better emotions through meditation or something like that. However, all that she could see behind her eyes was the image of the last time she had seen her father alive.

'It's okay, Savannah. It'll be okay. You didn't mean it. I know that.' )

Savannah could feel the tears sliding down her cheeks. She had only known her father for a short time and there were so many things that she wished she could say to him now.

If you dream them, they will come.

She didn't know where the thought came from, but Savannah finished the glass of alcohol and then headed towards the bedroom. She had been thinking of visiting Fandom, but she had decided that she needed to see her brother right away.

Savannah was sitting on the couch, flipping through several pages of paperwork. Every so often she would make small notes in Latin along the margins of a paragraph she didn't particularly like.

Johnny was sitting nearby watching something on the TV that he seemed really into. She couldn't help smiling as she looked at him. He had gotten back late yesterday after being away with the team for a few days and she was glad to have him back.

Of course, now it was her turn...

When a commercial break came on, she turned her head to face him. "Hey, Johnny? I need to take a trip for a few days."

Savannah had had a bit of a busy day at the store. She was thrilled to see Benecio and completely over the moon that Summer had made it back for her graduation. After talking for awhile at the store, Savannah had told Summer that they should have a celebratory dinner tomorrow night after graduation or a big lunch with everyone on Sunday. After locking up the store, she had gone to the dorms to take a shower and grab a change of clothes. She and Johnny were planning on spending the night in and she was looking forward to it.

She was happy and excited and nervous all at once.

She had survived. She had made it through high school and tomorrow she was graduating and would be able to show those that had doubted her that she was successful.

Nothing could bring down her good mood.

Savannah had taken Storm upstairs to wash the paint off of her ... well off of everything. Destiny barked happily when she saw them, but Savannah wouldn't let her rainbow colored daughter hug the pure white dog.

"I need to grab a towel from down the hall. You stay right here and don't get into anything, okay baby?" She kissed her daughter's cheek. "I will be right back."

Storm waited until Savannah closed the door, and then she went right to where she had put Mommy's cell phone. When she saw the name she was looking for, she pressed the green picture of the phone and heard it start dialing.
